i took out the battery to give it a charge but it said it was fully charged 30 mins later and once back in car it just done the same thing, anyone any ideas on the problem could it be my alternator and how do i check the alternator.

If the battery is still fully charged then I wouldn't suspect the alternator as it would appear to be doing its job. Perhaps a bad earth connection. If you have jump leads, connect one from the negative battery terminal to a clean metal area of the engine (bolt head, mount etc).

Thanks for reply mate i just tried that with the jump lead and nothing so i gave the starter a few hits with a hammer and it tried to start so it looks like it's been the starter motor so i will replace that tomorrow. Once again thanks for the reply it was a help so cheers Stef.
