terry-1987
Hi there I have mk1 focus 1.6 zetec se, noticed I can't hear the fuel pump priming, so apart from the relay and the 15amp fuse, what else should I check tomorrow when I have a go at it, does anyone have a picture of where the fuel shut of switch is, seen a picture on net but it wasn't the best couldn't work out where it was on it, thought I would check that too just incase, thanks Sent from my iPad using Ford OC
STEADS
I'm sure these have a common problem with the pump going altogether only cure is a replacement for which you have to drop the tank

I know the sender works as gauge still movies, but I can't hear the pump priming I took the pipes off at engine and fuel came out but if I remember correctly me and friend didn't turn over the engine at this point, going to call a guy friend of a friend he has a dealer scanner, so maybe he do me a favour or very cheaply scan it for me, is that normal for the gauge to still work if pump broken, had a look online and can see pumps for 25 quid ect, now I know u got to drop tank for this job but what about under back seat and just cutting the plastic that the back seat sits in just enough around it and doing it that way as back seat covers it anyway not fully sure on this way but it does save taken the tank out I suppose, just not fully thought this one out Sent from my iPad using Ford OC
STEADS
Yer sender would still work and I have heard of it being done the way you suggest but I would certainly get your friend to scan it first as I might be wrong but my mate had the same prob and symptoms on his 16 replaced the pump and everything back to normal

terry-1987
Ok least I know I need to replace whole thing than just a pump, as seen ones for 25quid, I thought maybe they went in the sender, but that's that cleared up going to get him to scan it before I buy the whole unit, as for it being metal when I checked it yesterday it just seemed like hard plastic to me and the sound when I knocked it sounded that too, maybe they changed that in later models maybe not sure, if it is plastic as it sounds and feel it I will just cut just big enough hole and do it that way saves taken out tank lol Sent from my iPad using Ford OC
terry-1987
I went up today, when I turn the key, the best way to explain it would be when you put the kettle on and there only enough for one cup, so when u pour it u hear the hissing kinda noise, that's what the pump was doing so guessing it's goosed and why it's making that noise Sent from my iPad using Ford OC
