Hi guys and gals, as title says. I'm installing the remote start today/tomorrow thing is before I start I need some advice on a few wires. I've located the ignition harness under the stearing wheel colum to the left of it.

Thing is which wire is which, I know the red is constant 12+, yellow is the acc wire, then theres the green/yellow is this the starter wire or ignition? and plus the grey/orange wire is the cranking wire?

Cheers

your best bet is to get a wiring diagram. When you refer to remote starting, are you talking about actually starting the car remotely and leaving it to warm itself up?

Ive spent ages looking just after which wire is the ignition one and which is the starter one. And yeah remote start the car to warm it up then go out put key in and hit foot brake to disable it and keep the engine running. Ive sused it down to grey/orange and green/yellow but which is which? I multimetered the grey/orange and it showed 0volts but when i start car with key it shows 12.2volts then release key and it goes back to 0volts??

I'm curious, is your car an auto or a manual? Do the remote start systems come with neutral identifying features or do you just have to remember to leave it in neutral?

They won't link to gears I don't think, leave it in gear and handbrake free at your peril lol

That's what I thought... Scary!

If you park it on a public road and use this you may cause an offence of "quitting", albeit I've never ever heard anyone being prosecuted for this!

Not strictly quitting ad if you put the cat in gear I don't think it will go and will stall if I'm not wrong.... But if it drives off you have a few more questions to answer other than did you start it and leave it or was it magic lol

Quitting is just the act of leaving a car engine running without you being in it / immediately nearby.

Just gave it a search, news result from 2007, so not a common law that's upheld!
