for this sensor - Different layout.

Hi,Can anyone tell me where the temperature gauge sender unit is located on my escort 1.8i 1998, also where the coling fan sensor is located. Thanks

Seem to be having similar troubles with my '99 Si. Temp Gauge was intermittent, now almost not at all unless car reaches higher temps (stuck in traffic etc) in which it works for a short while. When I had the time to check it out. I immediately went straight to the plug inserted vertically into the thermostat housing from above, it seemed to be the typical location for it, however we tested this without any response to the gauge (which is fine as we tested the clock itself suspecting a lazy sender / wiring fault), another plug appears to go in from the underside-front, not sure what this this as the cooling fan radiator switch seem to plug in elsewhere.

Have the Diesel Haynes book but indicates an area near to the Dipstick - A Different layout prevents it from being much of a help. can't really be bothered to buy the petrol version, can anybody help me for free?
