Sudden massive drop in acceleration - help!

Hi folks,

Was driving along, all of a sudden, car juddered, and almost all power failed. Even with foot to floor, it would accelerate very very slowly, the revs only getting up to 2000rpm. No warning lights. Leading up to this, I have had acceleration delay when pulling off, and when slowing at roundabouts and trying to pull away. A couple of times upon acceleration, it would suddenly feel as if all power went, then just as suddenly it would carry on accelerating. Now this has happened. Any clues please? Thanks, Ian

A bit more info on the engine type might help!

If it is petrol, then that old favourite, plugs & leads is probably top of the list.

But there might be some error codes stored after an event. Worth getting a scanner (from £10 for a basic one like a U480), to check. They might give a clue.
