Steering wheel audio controls for replacement radio

Hi all,

 

I'm currently running a Ford KA 2014 model. It comes with the most basic of bluetooth functions (calls and messaging) with steering control.

 

I was thinking of upgrading my radio. However, my local Halfords first advised me to check if steering wheel controls could be connected to a new radio, especially if it would be 3rd hand, and to see if adaptors would be needed.

 

I've checked online but not been able to find anything. Has anyone had experience of this?
