Sync3 update to version 3.4

I’m still a little twitchy about upgrading, everything works well at the minute so reluctant to mess with it 😂

Yeah I'm staying on the build I'm on now...

Too cold to be sat in the car for an hour per install!

Just a FYI:

I successfully downgraded back to 3.3 from 3.4 19200.  I did this using the 3.3 download from the russian friends, and the existing reformat tool.  Everything went well and I'm back on 3.3 - still with the install in progress message haha.  I'm pretty sure if I run a genuine update (which I have, just no time), the message will go away.

I was extremely worried, because I wasn't sure what happens if you fail an update via the bootloader reformat tool, since you wouldn't be able to boot it to install again.  Anyway, it worked.

I have an ELS cable on the way, and I have 2.4.0 from Forscan. They advised it was an old version with known issues, but when I mentioned I was only after a APIM update, they provided, with plenty of warnings.

I downgraded because without the firmware update there doesn't seem to be any benefits other than the new skin.  I prefer the colour scheme, but actually prefer the 3.3 layout over 3.4 (big station name etc).

There also seems to be a massive flaw in 3.4 unless I'm missing something.  On 3.3 there is a toggle for Auto-Dim.  This is the last option on the display settings page.  I turn this off, because otherwise the dimming with ambient light is a flickering disaster.  It still switches day/night and I see no need for Auto-Dim to be on.  On 3.4 19200 this option is missing.  Why? 😞 I get a lot of flickering on 3.4, another reason to downgrade. Can anyone confirm if its available in the latest build?

I'm really ***** off by graphic interface of 3.4 sync its looks like cheap chinese radio and audio player its disaster.

please let me know what files im need have to go back
im on  3.4 19200

thanks

As stated, I used the same reformat first usb as the one used for 3.4

Here is my reformat.lst - its basically the 3.3 app from the russian forum, plus whatever else was included in that zip, then I added F8 maps and the additional files are from 3.4  This probably means I am running a non-official config, but that's ok for now.

This DOES have the install in progress error - I think an official update will fix this, which I will try at the weekend.

I have tried updating to 19200 build seven times now with different files and done master reset. I have also tried removing License and slow formatting. Last time now I updated to 19101 first and 19278 official after and I still get this message every time.

Hi all, interesting reading! I'd be tempted to do this but think I may err on the side of caution and await the official Ford 3.4 release. Are there any estimates for release flying around? And would I likely get it on a 2017 Ford Focus - I recently had an  update but I'm still showing V3.0 (Build 18025); guess I'm out of luck here?

Don't think we are going to get this build ever, i believe its for 18 plate and above only.

Ah that's a massive shame. Maybe I'll feel differently when the car drops out of warranty next year 😄

Does anyone have the firmware version / vbf file name for the radio logos firmware? Because I'm not on an official build (I think) I just get unknown module / version mismatch on forscan

Thanks,

About half hour 👍🏻

Hello again Luke,

Are you able to let me know what vbf files you sued to upgrade? Did you just leave it with the one forscan picked?  I'm struggling to know which firmware versions are compatible, and which have radio logos/calm screen.  Could you let me know how you used forscan? I have version 2.4.0 test now...

Weird thing here. Enhanced Dab and Calm screen dissapears after Sync reboots, build 19278. I have to rewrite with Ucds for it to appear again, but it off course go away again.

what do you mean by reboot, car off and on or a hard reset?

Thanks but not sure - forscan seems to have some built in, but doesn't think they're compatible because I have  a bastardised system now.

Maybe I would be better going to the standard 3.4 version now, and upgrading then.

Hi all, its any chance to upgrade from sync 3 to sync 3.4. on a version without navigation ?

I am! I haven’t had it once since I started from scratch. It’s hard to say what fixed it really!

Hi Luke, did you use method 1 or method 2 from the download site? I’m getting the annoying install in progress message After updating mine and keen to reinstall to try & remove it.
Many thanks, Mark

You need to update the firmware for enhanced dab and calm screen to stay.

the Dropbox files are the correct ones to do the firmware update.

I think the installation in progress message is more related to the firmware as it went after I force reapplied the firmware update. I have since gone back to sync 3.3 and still don’t get the installation message

Thanks. Will try using those files then.  Hopefully I won’t end up bricking it.

Did you use the 3.3 version from the Russian forum? I did but so have some small niggles with it still.

Is that files to be used after 3.4 install? Are they build 19278?
