I do like getting the all clear from the doctor further to a cancer scare.  Still got lots of problems in my life but at least now I've (hopefully) got a lot of time to deal with them.

  • I do like finally finishing a model kit I first started 5 and a half years ago.  It's a very special model that i was supposed to finish by the time the aircraft took her final flights across the UK

nope, not on the owners club. how sad do you think i am?? lol

the main thing i like at this moment in time is the fact that the U.S. presidentail elections are nearly over because i'm sick to the back teeth of trump v clinton it seems to have been going on for years

Hahaha ^^^ Trump vs Clinton....

Honestly this has got to be the biggest mud slinging election ride in the US for a long time.

I don't actually know whats scarier though... I mean Trump should never have got anywhere near the 'Presidential candidacy', but the fact he's doing as well as he is doing is quite scary as it's surely a testament to how awful Clinton is.. Also the double standards are ridiculous... Trump is an outspoken a-hole of course, but hearing the people how the Clinton supporters bash Trump about his talking about women is incredible considering the things Clinton said about the women and her hubby....

Most favourite dig at Trump though:

I do like taking Brandy on an extended weekend walk, aside from the complete lack of frost, it was very autumnal for the first time this year.  We revisited the river path where I fell in, during blackberry picking earlier on:unsure:.  I didn't fall in the river today: as there were no blackberries to gather there.

However, after we'd left the river and walked up the old Roman road that crosses the Kingston Lacy estate, leading eventually to Badbury Rings, I did pick a kilo or so of rosehips and 12 poo bags of sloes, whilst Brandy played with some crows.  Or from the crows point of view, their breakfast was repeatedly interrupted by a bouncy tan and white dog, intent on chasing them every time they landed in the field:ohmy:

I now need a couple of litres of vodka and gin, to turn this morning's harvest into rose vodka and sloe gin respectively:smile:

The US presidential election, I heard one commentator say, it's the first time both candidates are equally reviled by the larger american public: normally one is loathed and the other loved:ohmy:

I do like finishing work, and knowing I have a bottle of rum in the freezer...

Chilled.  Spirits have too high an ABV to freeze.

Unless it's cheap Spanish vodka!  Won a litre bottle in Spain, took it home and put it in the freezer, came out as a vodka slushy!!!

40% proof is the main number for spirits to go in the freezer and not freeze after 24 hours in a freezer. Although I'm not a vodka lover morrisons own brand (speaking a good few years ago ) Moranov blue label vodka is a superb vodka after a day in the freezer and I do like it. Must go to a morrisons and see if they still do it.

Ooops for the word main read majic

I do like the roads down to the WRC, I left from my house to Welshpool via Shrewsbury, then onto Bala and then either side of Bala but the hills around there provide some amazing driving roads and my little Ecobeast provided some ear to ear smiles.  I also like that I had a great day at the WRC

I do like being pleasantly surprised...  When I bought the C220 it had seat covers on all the seats, which I presumed covered damage to the original fabric coverings, and accepted given the low price of £350.  I was going to wait until I do a full valet tomorrow, but curiosity got the better of me and I went out tonight and ripped them off (literally!) to find both front and rear seats in immaculate condition!  The rear bench has some light stains (I'm not going to imagine what they could be...) but nothing a good shampoo wouldn't take out.

It is amazing how much better the car looks with its original grey upholstery on display rather than the black seat covers which made it look bland and cheap.  I would never fit seat covers to any of my cars.  Even a worn/damaged seat looks better than one covered by a seat cover in my opinion.  I can't stand them!!

Quite fancy having a go at making sloe gin. Thing is though, I've never actually tried sloe gin before!

And I'm not sure if you can get sloes up here or not

Whilst I'm a big fan of gin, I have never tried sloe gin.  If Ghana makes some, I may order a bottle!!

According to the wikipedia map of the range of sloes, they don't appear to be up there. in Scotland itself: but not in the northern isles

You do have bilberries in abundance up there, they work well in a vodka or a neutral grape spirit base.

mmm.  damson gin , rasberry vodka, blackberry brandy.

I've not tried raspberry on it's own

I've done it with a combination of raspberry, strawberry, redcurrant and blackcurrant on a gin base. Capturing the essence of a summer pudding in a drink, which turned out better than the pudding itself.  Another raspberry blend was with gooseberries on a brandy base

Very nice!!

When spending a not even an hour giving the car a quick wash turns it from looking manky, with streaky dirt lines and spray all over it and looking like it had black alloys.

Very satisfying!

I like that I got my BeaST back from the Dealers after a weekend pining for it.

All back in A1 condition with a nice wash and vac done.

Sent from my SM-G930F

I do like walking about in the fog with Brandy, as we have done now for two consecutive mornings:smile:  Although Sunday morning's fog was a lot denser than this morning's; dense enough, if you were driving, to actually need fog lamps.  Whereas, today's headlights would have sufficed.

I also like finding a bit of a bargain on trade counter at Screwfix, when I went to collect my order, 9L Ronseal one coat fence paint 2 for £16 :yahoo:They're £14.99 each in the catalogue, that's nearly a bogof.

I also got my Focus back today from the body shop after taking it in on Thursday morning. The wait felt like forever, but now I have a perfectly matched bonnet and front bumper with no stone chips!

I do like the much reduced pain in my left knee after driving the Mercedes for the past few days!  Even managed a quick run in the Focus tonight without too much aggrivation from the aforementioned joint.

I do like a nighttime trip out to town to fill the C220 up with diesel and discovering that in 290 miles it only used 34 litres, therefore achieving just under 39MPG.  Not bad from a 20 year old 2.2 litre diesel with an automatic transmission!

Further to that, I like buying a bottle of sherry (my occasional treat) on the way home and enjoying a few glasses with a film tonight.

Unfortunately my day off tomorrow will probably be spent rushing out to an emergency dentist appointment (severe tooth/gum pain around my lower left jaw), but that's a post for the other thread...

On a final "do like", I got some nice pictures of the abovementioned C220 yesterday after a quick jet-wash.  I will treat it to a professional valet nearer Christmas though.
