The Tories have been doing a sterling job of that since 2010, but that's for a whole 'nother thread!😐

Don't forget that for the 1st 5 years, (2010 - 2015) they were in coalition with those nice LibDems LOL 🤣

If I may draw a car analogy...

Brembo make brake pads, Mintex make brake pads. There'll be some story that your cousin's Uncle's brother once fitted brand 'x', and when he braked, the car wouldn't stop, and he skidded on the motorway causing a 50 car pile up. So, brand 'x' is rubbish. In reality for the rest of us, no matter if you fitted Brembo, or Mintex, when you press the brake pedal approaching a set of traffic lights, your car will come to a halt.

It makes you wonder why they bothered developing the new one.

When it comes to Brakes and tyres, remember. Performance is Desirable, Stopping is Essential!

But I think were are going :offtopic: now.

A lot of unexplained excess deaths for this time of year! The vaccinations are not dangerous - l can remember a posting from Tizer- sadly this has proven not to be the case for some.Compensation has already been paid out to spouses for vaccination deaths.

1 hour ago, Tizer said:

On that subject, according to our Clinical Director Jason Leitch not everyone will be getting the new bivalent Moderna one because they will not be able to supply enough of them for everyone before the end of the year. The estimate is about half the number of the people eligible.

My own guess is that there will probably be supplies of the other types that have been delivered or ordered and our governments will not want to waste them as well.

Seems to be a moot point at the moment. I've also seen the suggestions that Moderna will only be able to come up with 13 million doses of the new type for this autumns booster programme (about 26 million are eligible) so that ties in with Jason Leitch's comment.

Vaccines minister Maggie Throup (why doesn't that name give me confidence, I wonder?) however commented that there should be enough to meet the programme, but any shortfall would be met by existing (non-bivalent) vaccines.

There does, though, seem to be consensus that a fourth shot of any vaccine will still be beneficial.

Anyway, there's no need to worry. I see Tony Blair is calling for the reintroduction of compulsory 😷😷 which will keep us all safe, I'm sure.

Going back to the Vaccine. I got no after-effects with the Oxford AZ vaccines, but did have a sore arm and splitting headache for a few days after the Moderna Booster. It still hasn't put me off having another Moderna one though.

I think there is/was 2 kinds of flu-vaccine. One with an egg protein and one without. I can remember being asked if I was allergic to eggs before getting it. About a week afterwards I occasionally got a cold/flu type symptoms which lasted a week or so. Not had after-effects for a few years now though.

The public inquiry starts today on the governments handling of Covid. It has a budget of £120 Million, and a planned timescale of 4 years. Here's my predictions.

  • It'll cost in excess of £500 Million
  • It'll take 8 years till release
  • Not one single minister (including the PM) will be found culpable of any wrong doing in the decision making of multiple lockdowns, or closing our education system
  • Furlough attracted in excess of £8 Billion in fraudulent use, less than £1 Million, if that, will be recovered
  • There will be no evidence whatsoever found of a cost/benefit analysis of lockdowns, and the economic aftermath it would cause.
  • 'Following the science' was such a built in government mantra, that they actually forgot to follow the science.
  • Comparisons with how other countries fared by not locking down, or not closing their schools (like Sweden) will not be made as it's just too embarrassing.
  • The decision to squander £37 Billion on a failed  'track & trace' system will be swept under the carpet
  • The impact that our own government has caused on our current economic situation, will just not be made.

See, I could do a proper report in about a week, and I'd only charge an amount to cover my winter fuel bill 🤣

That just about covers it.

The very sad thing is that we both know that everything you have said will be totally true. If we are both here in 4 or should we say 8 years, I think you will be totally justified in posting in letters 10 feet tall "I Told You So" and I'll be the first to give you a thumbs up 👍

I’m not going to make any inquiry predictions. However I have a good idea on their conclusion.”We can’t let this happen again and mistakes will be learnt”, routine.Sadly I’ve heard that a few times over the years.

Just been on the NHS site to book a winter booster for the Mrs and I - interesting that the earliest slot at our nearest vaccination centre was in a couple of weeks, so they must be busy already.

Still on vaccinations, recently had my over 70's shingles vaccination at my GP surgery. All went well, but one thing bothered me.

When the nurse had finished, she said: " There, all done, you won't need another". So I asked "Is that because it's a long-lasting jab, or don't you think I'll live long enough?" She didn't answer. ........😕

Having already had my double vaccine jab, and a booster, and having had Covid in August, pretty sure I'll be declining my next booster invite...

We had it in May but don't fancy it again so we're happy to have another jab. Anyway I've had Astra- Zeneca and Pfizer so far, so hoping for a Moderna this time to complete the set!😀

That way madness lies, or at minimum a uncurable facial tik LOL

Had the invite this afternoon for the COVID and flu jabs.  Happy to have them , but booked them on a Friday afternoon incase they don't agree with me.

Well, we went for our booster jabs this morning, but, as my school dinner ladies used to say, "you get what you're given" and in this case it was Pfizer.

The Mrs had A-Z for her first two and Moderna for number three, so she has had a full set!

Our nearby vaccination centre is looking very professional since the early days last year. The big tents have been replaced by portable buildings which look pretty permanent to me, and the site has become a local healthcare hub for several GP practices, doing various scans and vaccinations, not just Covid.

Staff and volunteers are still doing a great job!

Is this the 3rd or 4th jab ? Or should I say 1st or 2nd booster ?

We've both had our main 2 jabs followed by the booster but not heard anything at all locally about another booster. I have been offered the flu jab at work but have never taken the option......yet as we go away for a week in the beginning of November which is our first venture abroad in a long long time.

As far as I know but happy to be corrected- the AZ vaccination is not available and been withdrawn.I think so far around 7 people have received compensation of £ 120,000 each. I don’t know if they all received the AZ though.

Yes, I understand that the mRNA type vaccines such as Pfizer and Moderna are considered more effective for third and subsequent jabs and no more stocks of the original A-Z have been ordered.

Lol, this was our 4th jab so 2nd booster I suppose. Some of our friends are classed as very vulnerable and have already had 4 so going for the 5th now - it's getting hard to keep a tally!

Notification seems to be a bit hit and miss - one of us got a text, one of us didn't, some of our friends got a text, some didn't. I just went on the NHS site and put in our details to start the booking process - it won't let you proceed if not eligible yet.

Risk from a conventional vaccination of developing a serious life changing event is apparently about 1 in 2 million. With these latest vaccinations it’s 1 in 800 it was reported.

I've been having a 'flu' jab for 20 odd years, I have never asked what brand it is! Odd that the hysteria around Covid has suddenly given people the medical qualification to desire a certain make of vaccine!
