New Covid vaccine - would you take it?

Some very interesting variations in this, not only between different people, but different doses of the same thing in the same person.

To be fair, I've been getting a flu jab annually for over 20 years. There has always been variations in effects it has on people, Mechanical variations (sore arms etc), and internal variations (different 'side' effects). People seem to have singled out the 'covid' jab for scrutiny as I suppose it is so widely taken now, and there is an obvious comparison to be made on how it effects you.

Having various health issues, I take up to 16 tablets/day, plus injections for a range of different issues. At some clinics I attend, there is also a wide variation on how for example some drugs for 'diabetes' effect different people in different ways. Like a common diabetic drug, Metformin, I don't get on with at all, but 1000s of others take with no issue.

In the same way that many people can eat peanuts, but some when taken, they die. Anything you put in your body will have various individual effects, which is why all prescription drugs come with a PIL (Patient Information Leaflet) about a foot long, though most don't even read it.

Like I said, I just find the phenomena of the 'Covid' jab has suddenly aroused so much interest in peoples own personal health, which of course they should have an appreciative risk as with all medication...

I seem to be immune( no pun intended) for all the flu and COVID jabs and all the other medications I take to keep me alive. My stomach can also take anything I eat. But my partner is the opposite and is affected by some of the COVID jabs, and has a delicate stomach. She says my stomach must be lead lined. 🤣🤣

I had AZ for Nos 1 and 2, never even felt the needle, Pfizer for No 3, floored the next day, Pfizer again for No 4, no effect this time.

Mrs had 2xAZ, 1 Moderna, and 1 Pfizer, no effect with any of them.

We both had slightly sore arms after flu jabs, but no other effects.

Most of our friends/relations have reported being floored at least once from the Covid jabs, some every time.

We arranged our Covid and flu jabs ourselves seperately, but a month after we had them were contacted by the local health consortium of GP practices offering Covid/flu in one appointment. That would have been convenient had we been contacted earlier, but it seems from yours and other comments we've had that we might have done the best thing anyway.

Just checked on our NHS app as to which ones we've has and it's the same yours Eric, AZ for 1 and 2 followed by 2 further boosters of Pfizer.

The Mrs spent the next day in bed after her jabs and still doesn't feel great almost a week later and I've not had the energy or drive to go for a run either but my resting HR (45/46) is back to normal so will have another week off and see how I feel.

Indeed they should. I think the current thing is because Covid is something new and affects everybody, so there's a bit more interest than normal in who's had what and what the effects are.

My Mrs is on 18-20 tablets day and they're forever juggling the prescriptions to counter the various side effects.

You're quite right about the flu jabs, they seem to change the formula every year as they try and keep up with new strains. Some years I don't notice, other years it's arm aching for days.

Now the AZ jab is about a fifth of the price of of the other one, so I guess you get what you pay for :laughing::laughing:

Crikey! Are you even alive? Mine is more like "think of a number, double it" etc!😀

I've absolutely no idea regarding the costs and wether it's a cost cutting exercise by the NHS either but I suppose in the Government's eyes the more jabs per £ the better.

Lol, that's only average resting HR.

Lowest I've ever seen it was 37 and the highest it's been was a few yrs ago during a sprint finish in a 5k race. It hit 200 😳

Like  i said in a previous post- the AZ vaccination isn’t being offered in the U.K. as a booster unless someone knows otherwise.

My resting is around 55 but the odd occasion in my sleep it can go down to 40. Medication is slowing it down on purpose though. Get past 90 and I have issues.

What are you all using to measure heart rate?  I bought one of the finger clip things but it was crap.  Readings were all over the place.

LOL, my finger clip thing (I assume an oximeter?) is quite accurate. I also have a proper BP thing I strap round my arm which is really accurate, also alerting me of an arrhythmic heart beat if/when it arises...

There are recommendations on the British Heart Foundation website. Their shop sells them if you want to give some support.

We've had Braun and Omron - both have seemed pretty good, have the latter at present.

Lol, I've been monitoring for 10 + years and never not  seen the irregular heartbeat symbol!😀

The oximeter I've got matches the Fitbit, and cuff type blood pressure readings/ heart rate i get. I feel the heart starting to miss a beat and the cuff and oximeter both detect the irregularity.

This is what I've got. Haven't checked my blood pressure the last few months, so what's showing is the last old reading.

Symbol is like this reading.

Fitbit watch and also use a Garmin watch with or without the heart rate strap across the chest. Both are very accurate.

Yes, that's what I get too, Ian. Readout is very similar to your Boots version on both the Braun and Omron which we've used. Probably all made by the same Chinese anyway!

This is what it looks like when the heart misses a beat or 2

Still, at least the daily mail are giving a balanced bit of reporting.

Next major COVID variant IS poised to be more deadly, doctors warn after studying patient who harbored Omicron for six months.

And,

Revealed: Britain has world's SECOND biggest Covid outbreak currently - behind only Japan... so where else is in the worst 20?

And,

Could China's Covid chaos send world straight back to square one? Experts fear unrelenting crisis risks spawning lethal mutant variant that dodges wall of immunity.

And,

Mask wearing compulsory again , but not for all .  names starting with an 's' are first to be issued with masks.

Yay!!!!🤣🤣

We're all sharing, right? LOL

Those readings normal for you?

They're actually OK, I've seen higher! LOL (I do have 'heart' issues...)

Thanks all.  My finger thing has the same display as Stephen's, though I guess the scanner part may not be the same.

I did buy a blood pressure cuff but couldn't stand the tight feeling of it.  Tried it a few times but never managed to get it 'full' before ripping it off in a panic, which kind of defeats the purpose lol.

Tom, that panic is totally understandable. I remember feeling similar when I 1st started using it years ago. You really just need to put your big boy pants on and let it do it's thing. Yes, it feels uncomfortable, but it genuinely won't do any harm. It'll be worth it for the few seconds of tightness, to get an accurate reading...
