Lol, no, Covid. Our older friends are now getting number 4 of course.

You're getting me worried about this monkeypox though - I'm sure I'm eating more nuts and bananas than normal!

Ironically, you probably already have the vaccine against it, 'smallpox' where most of us had it as kids!

Oh well looks like I won't be going on holiday any time soon  I've had two jabs and I have zero intention of getting anymore. Looks like Butlins Skegness for me !! on second thoughts I'll just stop at home 🤣

Only time we need to wear masks on hols day was at the destination airport and public  transport. Hotels and out and about generally it's pretty normal .

This was the pinnacle moment for me that proved beyond a doubt that the government hadn't a clue what they were doing about covid and that 'no science' whatsoever was actually being followed! 😁

Yeah, bus pass is very handy. Amazing what largesse is bestowed on us - bus pass of course, senior rail card, State Pension, etc.

I've just applied for my 70+ driving licence renewal though, and was struggling to see what I get for this "big birthday". Then my diabetes nurse told me I would be in line for a shingles vaccination💉Great!😀

Up north where I live for your 50th birthday you get a Bowel Cancer Testing kit in the post.

It is a serious matter but it doesn't half make you feel old when you still think you are a youngster😀

I got mine last week, after posting off, got result back (all OK) in 5 days - it's a very efficient screening process! (I have already had bowel cancer, but nice to be reassured)

Starts at 60 in England. I often wonder why these things are not standardised across the UK. I'm pretty sure a Welshman, Irishman, Scotsman and Englishman must have similar bowels!

Other thing is it stops at 74 here, so do you suddenly become immune or is it just a subtle  message to say "time's up"?😀

i was offered one when i turned 61, makes a change me sending 5h1t post instead of receiving it

I think Scottish people traditionally have worse diets, deep fried mars bars etc, and the life expectancy up here has always been lower so maybe that accounts for it. It was still a shock for me at 50 though.

You might be right about 74 being your time is up. If older Covid patients just died and were clogging up the hospitals it would be interesting to see if they would have been offered the 4th Jab or not.

My partner now works for Macmillan cancer trust and most of her calls are from Scotland, mainly bowel, breast and prostate enquires.

I only thought about them after I'd posted - I guess Yorkshire Puddings are not quite as bad, after all, then?😀

I love them. Road Chef used to do a big one like a bowel with Liver and gravy in the middle, absolutely lovely.

Was that deliberate or that damn predictive text again?😀

Oops, I can't believe I typed that. Must be a Freudian slip😲

I would not want to get vaccinated, But already got 2 shot lol.

Anyone spotted the fascinating story in the press this morning? Scientists have been trying to crack the genetic difference that makes some people twice as likely as others to die from Covid-19.

Seems it's all down to a single sexual encounter between a Neanderthal and another humanoid around 60,000 years ago giving rise to a genetic variation in which a gene known as LZTFL1 is overactivated. This means cells in the lungs are slower to defend themselves against infection, making them more susceptible to Covid for longer.

So it seems an estimated one million people, who may otherwise have survived, have died in the pandemic as a result of two of our very distant ancestors being unable to control their primitive lust! (I'm not blaming them, I'm sure we've all had a similar problem in our younger days!😀)

So you don't want to have the vaccine, yet you've had 2 doses? 🤔 Or have I picked you up wrong? 🤷

Done mine 3 times now! 👍

Piece of p**s! Well, it's actually a piece of something else, but you get the picture! 😀

Well worth doing for peace of mind.
