Hi everyone 🙂

When I start my car, the temp gauge will read correct - under 60 degrees as the screen/OBD reader will say 16 degrees.

After a minute or 2, the temp gauge will shoot up to the midpoint, while the screen/OBD reader will still say its cold at 49 degrees.

When screen/OBD starts reading 90 degrees where it should be, the gauge is still in the middle.

Could anyone explain what's wrong? Is the gauge faulty?

Many thanks,

It’s behaving as it should, it basically shows cold, everything’s ok (midpoint), or overheating. Apparently Ford thought people would be worried if there temp gauge kept swinging round if it was doing a ‘live’ Reading.

That would make sense.

I went from a pre facelift cluster to a facelift cluster. My old cluster would show the whole range e.g. you could see it slowly warming up and moving slightly which I prefer and also therefore thought it should be the same?

It was also re soldered so thought there might be an issue, but I guess it's okay then if what you say is true.

Thanks for your reply
