How to get keycode for UK mk3 Focus 2017 1.0 Ecoboost

I have a 2017 Mk3 Focus 1.0 Ecoboost with a keyless entry system.  Although I don't have any problems with the keys at the moment, I like to be prepared for the unexpected, just in case.

If I ever had to order a replacement key I would prefer to just be able to give a dealer a key code rather that having to clone another from my spare.  Rather worryingly, Ford UK say   https://www.ford.co.uk/owner/resources-and-support/ask-ford/general/other/key-code     "

Official Ford dealers can keep the key code of each Ford supplied by them for a number of years. The reason for this is to simplify the ordering of additional keys. These key codes will not always be stored. If the selling Ford dealer no longer has the key code, then the dealer will have to find out the key code by removing the lock cylinder of your vehicle. Based on this key code, a new key can then be delivered.   If you require a new key or fob, please contact your nearest Ford Authorised Repairer who can order & programme a replacement for you. There may be costs associated with gaining a key code or replacment key which should be agreed with the dealership."

In the USA & Canada there is a hack to display the code by placing both keys in the emergency reader position, but I can't get that to work in the UK.  How can I get the key code here in the UK without having to worry about the possibility of having the lock cylinder removed?

Hi Graeme, it would be nice to have the key code but as you know its not that easy anymore. You could contact the original dealer and ask for the code if they still have it.

Of course if you ever need a new key your going to have to get it programmed in to the car so you are most likely still going to have to go to a dealer anyhow.
