Replacement Engine Loosing Coolant

Hi all,

 

I bought a Ford Focus Titanium Turbo 1.0l a few days ago and it had a new engine last month due to degas hose failure.

 

I've just noticed I've lost coolant and had to top up (Whilst cold)

 

Been for a drive and let it cool down and I've lost about another 500ml.

 

Any idea what the best approach would be to deal with this? Should I phone ford as it's a new engine and has 11 months warranty left or attempt diagnostic myself.

 

Want to avoid a hefty bill if possible and I assume they will do everything to try and shift the blame.

Thanks will do. I'm assuming Ford are under no obligation to provide a temp car etc?

It only had a new engine 4 weeks ago and another new engine 12 months ago.

Will give them a call.

What's the condition of the expansion tank? I replaced mine as it had cracks in it and was leaking.

Sounds a lot to be from that though so would be tempted to go back to the garage myself too.

The 1.0 ECOboost is covered by a goodwill program. In case of engine damage as a result of loss of coolant/overheating the repair will be covered for 100% by the goodwill program. The goodwill program is a Ford UK initiative. Most other countries do not have such a goodwill program.

If the previous engine replacement was covered by the goodwill program there will be a 12 Month warranty on the repair. However as far as I am aware this warranty is only applicable to the parts that have been replaced during the repair. If any other part is causing the loss of coolant it will not be covered by the warranty.
