USB ports / apple carplay / sync 3

I’ve just purchased a used fiesta 2019 and tried to connect to apple CarPlay but i came across some problems. When i first plugged my charger into the USB port behind the cup holders in between the driver and passenger seat my phone appeared to be charging which indicated the USB port was working and when i tried to set up CarPlay it came on screen basically wanting me to accept the connection between my phone and the car which i did and then as i stopped for fuel en route, between turning the engine off and on again i could no longer get CarPlay to work so i began deleting previously connected devices and as i deleted the last device i then completely lost the apple CarPlay app on screen so I’m now wondering how I can get CarPlay itself back onto my screen to then begin trying to get my phone and CarPlay to work properly. If anyone has any knowledge on how to help it would be greatly appreciated as this is my first car and the carplay is something i could really do with, thank you

Give a Master Reset on the cars screen a go, if that doesn’t work try a different cable. It should still show I think even if there’s no previous devices but it might disappear until it sees a new phone.

If you have deleted all phones then the icon will disappear you need to plug your phone back into the USB to re-pair your device then the icon will come back on

I'm having issues with my CarPlay.  It keeps disconnecting after about 15 minutes.  Tried 3 different cables and all are charging the phone.  Followed through some advice on Google and took it for a drive on Saturday - seemed ok but not overly confident

Try using a genuine Apple cable or one that’s MFI approved. Some “charging cables” simply can’t handle the data rate for CarPlay.

Ensuring your Sync3 firmware is up-to-date will only be beneficial as will removing any fluff from your iPhones lightning port.

Have tried all of above, initially thought it was the cheap cable, changed to Apple cable - same thing happened.  Now using an Anker MFi certified cable.  Assume Sync3 is up to date as car is fairly new and connected for auto updates.  Cleaned the phone, checked for 'fluff'  Turned off an on again all the settings on the phone.

When mine stops responding a reset of sync always works for me.

To perform a System Reset, press and hold the Seek Up (>>|) button while pressing and holding the Radio Power button. After approximately 5 seconds the screen will go black. Allow 1-2 minutes for the system reset to complete. You may then resume using the SYNC 3 system.

I'll try that - that's one of the bits from google I couldn't work out how to do!
