  • Well the rest of the gang have been running F11 for nearly 18 months 🤣

  • It will connect to WiFi with the engine off but it won’t usually stay on for long before it shuts off to save battery so updates can take a very long time or get stuck indefinitely

Yes I've been on it for a couple of months.

You will be offered F12 maps after you install and upload the XML.

Might be worth putting it on then!

I updated to version 23188 but I didn't get the xml file. I am trying to find the zip file at the Ford website but I can't find it. How do I confirm the update at Ford servers?

Just installed, took 15 mins, no problems, XML file found and uploaded to Ford, now downloading the maps.

Hi, Installed 2 weeks ago no problem. approx 20 mins to install via usb.

What was concerning to me was that the 23Gig Maps 12 became available and was downloaded and installed in approx 2hrs, which seems quick when comparing other years.

I even tried turning the engine off and when resuming, the screen stated update in progress.  It did not reappear after about 1/1/2 hours, and I thought I had ***** it up. However I left it and it later stated complete , please do key recycle. I performed and after removing USB stick and putting back in iMac desktop had received another .xml. I uploaded and now have screen on desktop stating SYNC and MAPS up to date. The correct new build and Maps 12 appear on the SYNC screen.

What I find concerning is that I have a new estate next to where I live. It has been ongoing for nearly 3 years, and the roads do not appear on Maps 12. They have been on google maps and Strava for nearly a year. Something has changed, as I had a 30 mph road near me that suddenly thought you could do 60mph, half way down.  This has now been put right on Maps 12.

The F12 maps are from at least 18 months ago (package date April 2022), so if Google and Strava have had them less than a year then that would be why.

You'll probably have to wait for F13 to see the new roads.

That would explain. I was thinking ,if it went in quicker than expected (3HRS ) I might have missed some files.

This is the first time since Maps9 mine has gone smoothly. At least I have proved you can turn engine off during install. It will resume.

My sister moved to a new estate in York 4-5 years ago - last time I checked, Google still hadn't got all the roads (and the estate was completed at least 2 years ago!)

Mine appears to have updated on its own... "SYNC Version 3.4.23188" 😎

Morning,

You have obviously got auto update switched on in your sync in car. I would advise going to the Ford update page on the web, insert your VIN and see the status of play.

If it states Sync up to date 3.4.23188 , but does not offer Maps 12 update, a .xml file from your sync will not have been generated and sent to Ford server.

( There is an interrogator file you can down load, to put on a usb, and get one. )

If you are offered the Map update on the up date screen, I would advise doing it via the usb method, rather than wi fi. ( purely for the time factor. )

If you enter your car, go to check for updates, (whilst connected to wi fi ) it will start to download very large files. You will see a file something like   1U5T-14G421-BAK.tar.gz.

This will tell you that Maps 12 are being applied, but will take ages, and will stop and restart when you leave and rejoin a wi fi network.

My car connects to my home WiFi when parked in the drive. I do have to prompt it to update maps, but not to update Sync apparently.

Hi,

Its great that it connect to your Wi Fi, but you have to have the engine running or at least have the power on to do any updating.

When the car is on the drive it is connected to a battery tender, so the battery is never less than 100%.

Hi,and thanks.

So the person has to physically connect every time. That seems like a pain.

I have a stop/start charger ( C TEK  ) maintainer. However if it is on maintain, the vehicle auto turns off and stops any wi fi install. Does this maintainer do something extra to keep the power on the vehicle, such that wi fi up dates can continue when the car has switched its self off.?

Thanks

I’ve not updated anything last year or two. Ford site wants VIN number again , I’ve not got round to it.
I’ve always got auto updates switched on (I get a ‘fair’ Wi-Fi signal on my driveway. Just got the car back yesterday from the dealership. It’s started downloading something, I’ll post a photo hopefully somebody will know if it’s maps or sync update. I’m still on maps 10. Think I’ll let it update itself rather than usb from the PC. Done it in the past   Took about a week I can’t remember how many gb

HI Alex.S

I would from that same screen    check view current software versions.

Tat file shown on your screen shot is not a present one from the current Map 12 update.  Nor the new sync 3.4 23188 build

Chris

Logged in there. Sync update first , then maps? I’m going OTA , website says car doesn’t need to be running. I think that’s changed since last OTA I did.

Was there a maps 11 ?
you’d think OTA would automatically download the most up to date version.  🤔
