aw_essex
Morning all, Been a long time reader of these pages and have learned a lot in doing so. Thank you! We own a 150ps 1.6 Ecoboost C-Max (2012). There's a later model that has 180ps. Does anyone know if the underlying hardware the same between these models? Looking at Superchips remaps to bring the power to around 190hp. I'd feel much better doing so knowing that the underlying hardware of the cars are identical, and that Ford had provided a 180ps option from the factory! It's booked in to be completed tomorrow. Also, has anyone gone down this route via Superchips? Be great to hear recent first hand experiences. I have stumbled across a few examples but most tend to relate to the Fiesta or are older threads (5yr+). All feedback very much appreciated! Thank you! alexp999
The 150 and 180 maps behave the same below about 4500 rpm. The 150 then reduces torque to maintain the lower peak output, where the 180 will continue to about 5500 and provide up to 180 PS. If you always change gear before 4500rpm you wouldn’t even notice the difference between the two maps. However aftermarket maps often lift the torque limits in lower gears, so the 190 super chips map will probably offer more torque in lower gears than either of the factory Ford maps.
DaveT70
You can install the 180PS map using UCDS, but you MUST use the genuine UCDS adapter (not cheap) and pay for the software, but will still work out cheaper than a remap. China clone and China UCDS software will NOT work
Eric Bloodaxe
Another option was the Mountune MP200 which was available through Ford dealers and was warranty friendly when applicable. Afaik it's no longer available from Mountune, this thread has a bit more on it:
aw_essex
Thanks a tonne for your responses! I've done digging and cannot see a Mountune option for my specific car (a CMax), which is odd as familiar with their works on the Fiesta and Focus ranges! Superchips have a £225 / remap offer at the moment that I am looking to take advantage of. I am not interested in standing starts and enjoy changing gears so hoping that additional torque will not be too detrimental to engine lifespan with the appropriate driving style! For all that might be interested in doing same I'll be sure to post thoughts and my experience. I've had a few modified cars in the past (and my second car is too) so will be interesting to compare! Thanks again all!

Superchips would be the safest bet then

Yes, it's a while back but afaik they never officially pushed it for the C-Max, but couldn't see why not as it's the same engines. Academic now anyway. Coincidentally I had a C-Max 182 for a while. Ford claimed a reduction of 0.9 secs in the 0-62 time compared to the 150, while 31-62 in 4th was identical for both. That bears out Alex's comment - the extra go was only apparent over 4,500rpm and a C-Max is not the sort of car you'd regularly drive that way, so if you want a useful torque increase below that, Superchips is probably the way to go. "Superchips" is now a trading name of Octopus Automotive according to Companies House, along with "Bluefin" and "Remap Kings" who seem to offer the same remaps on a mobile basis. Don't know their current reputation - I've seen the odd negative comment on other forums. Anyone had recent experience, I wonder?

I had to remove the remap from my 2017 Focus 1.0 auto, but it was mainly because the transmission couldn't cope with it and they couldn't get into the transmission to solve it, so had to refund. Celtic seem to be very good now
