All season tyre recommendation

I would still do some research, Chinese tyres are everywhere and EU rules state that they have to show performance labels

I will search for them, thank you.

About 4season i am between hankook (although not sure if can stand very warm conditions) and goodyear (also same treadware).

Michelins reviews about performance on wet seem very negative.

Yes, years ago Michelin tires failed Michael Schumacher in the wet, despite being a compnany with a €30 Billion annual turnover, it's obvious they don't know how to make a tire that can cope in the rain...😏

My experience of Michelins is that they have always out performed and outlasted all the other premium brands.

I've had 32,000 miles out of a set of Michelins and 9,000 miles out of a set of Pirellis

So, my motto now is either buy Chinese (Maximum "C" rating) or Michelins

One of the best things about the Crossclimates is the longeivity of them. I've had loads of tyres before but none have lasted as long as them.

The reason I chose Crossclimates is because of a youtube video showing empirical scientific data that they simply performed better overall compared to any other tyre across all seasons.

You can of course draw your own conclusions but for me I'll go with an unbiased and unsponsored review from a test roundup.

I can't understand why they are complaining about wet performance?

Surely a Xclimate will out perform a summer tyre in the wet?

At least here, prenium summer tyres surpass (a lot) four season tyres on wet and dry.

My experience with crossclimates 1 was not the best. ABS activated a lot on wet.

Yes I'd think they should be better than a summer tyre in the wet. Probably not as good as a purpose made wet weather tyre, for example something like Uniroyal Rainsport 2

If you're activating the ABS a lot, in the wet, then I would stop considering upgrading your brakes.

Perhaps change your driving style

in the second post of this thread is a link to the BEST tyre site out there (I've been using it for about 10 years) - it has reviews, tests and info about just about any round black thing...

you can use to check out MULTIPLE tests globally of all season tyres... the two that always stand at the top are the cross climate 2 and the slightly less snow focused goodyear vector 4 season tyre....

with vast swathes of Europe waking up to tyres that work all year, rather than the death the tyre manus have peddled across the UK for the last 25 years, other brands have picked up on the all season idea - I believe if you want to park most of the winter capability and pay way too much, continental now do a summer tyre they call an all season tyre - and this will stop and grip more in the rain - but don't try to drive in wintery conditions....

Average wet braking and wet handling.
The Michelin CrossClimate 2 is back at the top, winning the test overall. Once again this tyre was best in dry braking, the best in the snow, had good levels of comfort, great aquaplaning resistance, and a very low rolling resistance. Is this the perfect all season tyre? Well, once again, not quite. It was 6th in wet braking and 8th in wet handling, which is a common theme of the CrossClimate 2. Michelin, give this all season tyre more wet performance for the next iteration, even if it comes at the expense of some of that snow performance, and the segment will have an unrivalled king once again. There's no denying the CrossClimate 2 is the best all season tyre money can buy in the dry and snow, but I just think wet should be more important.

here we go conti all season £140 a tyre at black circle for a tyre designed in 2018 !!!!!!

stops 2.5m shorter in the wet
but 4.0m longer in the dry

or its later replacement managing 5th

its a balance you can't have it all

Of course the OP will eventually have to put his hand in his pocket and actually BUY some new tires, but c'mon guys, lets see how long we can keep it going for.

Then, when you're all drained, we can start another thread on what pressure they should be run at 😂😂😂

OK, I worked it out - get a motorbike - they teach you very clearly how to read the road and ride sensibly in adverse conditions.  And if you don't pick it up it stops being a problem.

I run the fronts at 100 psi to support the weight of the engine, and the rears at 10psi for extra grip.

More seriously, I used to run winter and summer tyres, then switched to Crossclimates. In the UK we don't get much snow. On the rare occasions the white stuff appeared I didn't notice a massive difference between winter tyres and the Crossclimates, but then I wasn't driving like a Finnish rally driver. As an all-rounder, all-season tyres work out very well for the UK where we don't get extremes of weather. And none of the big brand tyres are especially bad - they just have different strengths. Pick one within budget and you'll be fine.

Sound advice, sadly, the OP is unlikely to take it without much, much much more debate.

What about trying some coloured tyres ?  🤔

Has anyone spelt "tires" yet?

24 minutes ago, DaveT70 said:

shouldn't that spelling use a Z at the end   tirez ?

I thought in US "English" every S was replaced with a Z whilst also throwing away any information pertaining to its origin, as that helps stop educated people working out the meaning of words they have not come across before?

No, US spelling is tires.

I have Goodyear Vector 4seasons on my standard 19" wheels. I chose these as they are more wet biased than the Cross Climate's. They perform very well so far in the cold, wet and warmer days (in the UK) since they were fitted at the beginning of December 2023, obvious I've not used them in the summer yet so can't comment on that and also no snow this year in the south West UK so far. I was going to get these in 18" for my "winter" wheels (normally with winter tyres) but my 19's also needed to be replaced (normally Michelin Pilot Sport 4S's) and couldn't justify two sets of tyres as I'll most likely sell the car later this year.

I hope that @Bol sees that information, he needs tyres that are good in the wet 👍

Thats the review (vote) of real drivers.

Vector is better overall. Michelin is slightly better on dry.

Best psi pressure should be 33 or 34. Especially if car is loaded.

225/45/17.

Firts impression is very nice.
