PeanuckleJive
Hi guys, Looking to replace the auxiliary belt on my 2004 Mk3 2.0 130 zetec in the coming weeks. The much larger of the two belts that covers the alternator and whatnot. I did the smaller one on the gearbox side a few months ago. It squeaks and squeals when the engine is idling, and disappears as soon as you give it even the tiniest bit of revs. Is this a sign that the bottom pulley will want doing too? I've heard about people replacing the belt, pulley and tensioner at the same time quite often. I've also heard talk of an uprated tensioner/ modified tensioner or something that people use. what's this all about? Also, if anybody could point me in the direction of the parts that'd be greatly appreciated! Thanks
mintalkin
ford recommend replacing everything and do a kit for it http://www.fordpartsuk.com/shop/ford_mondeo_20tdi__and_22tdi_duratorq_diesel_kit_f_KITMISC4_c_456.htm this is not the cheapest kit so shop around for one,Gates also do the kit and is cheaper http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MONDEO-TDDI-TDCI-ALTENATOR-BELT-TENSIONER-KIT-PULLEY-/330593643343 both kits will include the up rated tensioner. PeanuckleJive
Thanks for the help mintalkin, Doesn't look like too bad of a job! Was expecting to pay a lot more for the parts. Did the DMF and clutch a few months back, £520 just for the parts! Shall get round to the local motor factors and see what they can rustle up for me
