Lenny
I have removed my rear bumper panel today and left it in the body shop to get the Zetec S rear skirt painted and fitted to it, i had to remove it as i need the car to travel to work so in a bid to continue to be 100% road legal i made up some fog light and reverse light housings, using some PVC electrical tape, some cable ties and two 2ltr CocaCola bottles. first i removed the bumper, then i cut the bottle in half, just below the label, then cut a hole from the bottom centre of the bottle, just enough to allow the bulb to stick through, once the bulb was through i held it in position with some electrical PVC tape and also around the side of the bottle to ensure all of the light is expelled only from the rear of the unit. followed by cutting two slits in the top for the cable tie to pass through and grip to the chassie. and here are the results Im now sitting by the letter box, awaiting my Blue Peter badge for this one http://www.fordownersclub.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/#EMO_DIR#/laugh.png

ijustwantafile
Just a quick one, do you have any reflective parts on the rear still? I heard its illegal to not have any as you can't see the parked car at night without these. I watched a cop program and some stupid kid sprayed his rear lights black to make them look "cool", they looked rubbish. He was trying to say that he got them from Halfords but clearly didn't as the copper saw he did a rubbish DIY job on it. Tto avoid having this fuss, the copper just did him for having a german number plate on a UK registered car and checked up to see if he had replaced his lights. he deserved what he got as he was rude as hell to the copper. I'm sure if he just owned up and was nice about it he'd of gotten away with a warning but he was rude and caused a lot of bother so he got what was coming to him. edit: I'm sure a couple of bike reflectors would solve this ;)

jeebowhite
Lenny, that brought a tear to my eye, I was wetting myself laughing!!! It is a superb fix, but I can guarantee near all of us would not have thought about that one! OK, it doesnt look so good without the bumper (look forward to seeing the end product) and I wonder if its a bit brave of you to drive without one? Blue peter badge is not in the post, as the cost of posting has gone up again! grrr, stupid Royal Mail... So instead, I suggest you print one of these: with one of these: http://www.jetmedia.co.uk/popprods.htm?product=CQ656A Dont worry about the cost, as you could print new parts for your car as well, and it would probably be cheaper than buying a bulb from a focus dealer anyway ;) lol £16k to print your own objects... who wouldnt want to spend 16k on one of these: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:3D_scanning_and_printing.jpg

Leave them hanging? http://www.fordownersclub.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/#EMO_DIR#/laugh.png Im now thinking I could get two of those miniature pringles tins and paint them black, Then tape the lids on tight so they would be a completely water proof sealed unit with the added bonus of being shiny silver on the inside to better reflect the light lol That 3d printer looks great too, The possibilities with it would be endless, http://www.fordownersclub.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/#EMO_DIR#/biggrin.png

Stoney871
Those jerry rigged lights are probably a better quality than half the crap on eBay anyway. Necessity is the mother of invention after all :P

Haz93
I'm liking the new bumper!! Not quite the same as the Zetec s one, a bit more holey :P Listing on eBay is free if you start the auction at 99p or less, well it used to be anyway it may have changed. Lenny
Further update on this. not much of an update really but some of you may be interested. Ive removed the side existing sill protector strips from the car to allow the side skirts to be fitted, the side skirts use the existing screws that are already in place holding the existing strips. But to allow the side skirts to be fitted correctly, the original section must be removed. And I was very surprised with the amount of dirt and debris that was trapped inside of them, I removed them yesterday, 6 screws on either side. Consisting of 2 long screws one on either end closest to the wheel arches, and four smaller ones in between, they are smaller in length compared to the ones closest to the wheel arches on either side. Followed by a quick wash of the area and delivery of the focus to the body shop to have the rear bumper put back in place along with the full Zetec S kit. So Im due to pick it up on Sunday evening. Here are some images of the side strip removal process. Basically remove all screws and pull out the clips. The side skirts have the new clips on them so just the screws need to be carried over

Looking forward to seeing the bumper mate :) If you do plan to keep them off mate i would strongly recommend fitting some anti chip film and blocking the holes for the clips with some silicone to prevent any water getting inside the sill housing, http://www.ebay.co.u...=item27c2af9b85

Lenny
You got any pics of the newly fitted bumper yet lenny? no sorry mate, but i did see my side skirts painted and sitting inside a broke up evo 7 to keep them from getting dammaged until he got the focus from me. as the guy works from a garage next to his house and it can get cluttered so he had put them in their to prevent anything happening to them, ive gotten the loan of a 12 megapixel camera for sunday so the pictures should be better than any of my previous ones because they were all taken using my phone at 2.2 megapixel. im really looking foward to the results, he is actully fitting it across today and tomorrow, so great feeling to know the car is being worked on and finally coming togeather after being in storage since june 2011 but its a pain in the glass getting busses everywhere and the cost of them lol ive spent almost 50 euro on busses since 6pm yesterday and thats not because im lazy. took me 4euro diesel to drive their yesterday and cost me 24.75 to get the bus home??? Looking forward to seeing the pics sunday! Can you post pics of before and after please. thanks mate, so am i, very excited and i will post some before and after shots all on the same post when i get some pictures taken. i will use some images from my car storage guide to show the before.
