Sacko
My car recently has been starting very poorly. Taking 5-10 seconds to start up. I havent had the car serviced in nearly 20 thousand miles so I think its about time I gave it one. I want to do it with a friend so was trying to source all the parts myself (oil filter, air filter, oil, glow plus and whatever else i need) Can anyone point me in the right direction to which parts I will need? Has anyone undertaking these jobs themselves? I drive a Focus 1.8 TDCi EDGE (Mk1) Hope you can help. Cheers!

Mike77
Ring any good motor factors with your reg plate and they will sell you all the correct parts, that's the easiest way of going about it.
Pitmonster
Go to a website like Euro Car Parts or GSF Car Parts. Input your registration number. The products on the site will be automatically filtered to suit your vehicle. As a minimum you will need: oil oil filter Air filter Make sure you get the correct specification of oil, it's critical to the health of your turbo. You may also want to do Glow plugs (the starting problem you describe could be this) Pollen filter service intervals are generally 12,500 miles

Pitmonster
The two filters will be around £15-20 for the pair If you are using Euro Car Parts then Google for a discount code - you may get 25-30% off oil may be about £30 Try getting the oil directly from the service desk of a Ford dealer - their own-brand will be the correct specification and cheaper than a branded alternative. Don't just get any old semi-synthetic, the right oil is critical for the health of your turbo For glow plugs try www.fordonlineparts.co.uk Genuine parts, and the cheapest I've seen You may even want to price up the other parts from their too - they are ery competitive prices. Like other sites, they also let you out your number plate in and it automatically selects the right parts for your vehicle.
