sonic113
Hi fellas I'm looking to add privacy tin to my rear window and rear side windows. I want to add it to help with the kids in the back ,keeping the sun of them e.c.t but also to look nice on the focus against the silver. Where is the cheapest and best place to get the film tint? I remember doing my old mk6 escort with it from my local car parts shop (closed now for many years). Not the easiest stuff to work with but time and a cool head and miracles happen lol! Also what shade of darkness do you recommend I get? I don't want limo black as I think its too dark again I want to stay clear from the bad chavy tint job lookalikes lol! What shades of tint do you have and what's the best one to go for against the moondust silver paintwork?

jeebowhite
If you want to get tints, you could get aftermarkets for about £150 - £200 on average. Alternatively, you could do what a few of us have done and instead get "privacy shades". I got mine from vanstyles, at a very reasonable £75! all the rear windows are now 'tinted' with the shades. Lenny
I had climaer blinds on mine before and got rid because their still there when you roll down the rear windows Blinds would be good on 3 door where the windows don't roll But blinds in a 5 door with kids in the back looking through the mesh feels like a prision bus No offence Stoney ;) Tint goes down with the window and prevents heat from entering the car The blinds build heat between glass and blind inside the car, Here is tint 10% front 30% rear And from inside
jeebowhite
I quite like the convenience of the blinds, but I would love to be able to tint... "horses for courses" as the old saying goes... I do like the benefit of the blinds though, its stops debris and bugs entering the vehicle uninvited!
Stoney871
Mine keep the car cooler in the back when running the dogs to/from work and allows me to open the windows for ventilation without allowing direct light in.

Preee
Of course you can but no reverse charges. :) Regarding , tint's i found the Climair blinds great and not so restrictive as an added tint , plus you can remove then easily for the winter months if you want to.

jeebowhite
Would you perhaps by any chance be Mr Woods better half? :) Or given the amount that Mr Woods loves his car, maybe we should say one of his better thirds ;) I imagine that there may be 3 parties in that relationship :p
btmaldon
You dont have to inform your insurance about the blinds either. Direct Line wanted to increase my premium by about 25% for the privelege of adding tints.

sonic113
Any one got any pictures of the privacy shades fitted to the focus? Lenny put some up but there is not rear window view from the out side. I'm trying to see whats they look like from a few feet away as do they just look like tint? I'm seriously considering these instead of the film tiny. I think they wud be more practical with the kids but keep the tint look hopefuly.

minnis
Wow, they look good. Can't tell from the outside. In the current heatwave, my car (panther black) gets very hot and I really must get a set of these to help keep it cooler for everyone inside. The fact that you don't have to declare them is an added bonus being a young driver. My insurers wanted an extra 20% (working out at £500) for changing the head unit, didn't even bother asking about alloys, tints and a remap lol.
