Focus_IRE
Right I said I'd set up a project log of me refurbishing a set of alloys which I got. I got all 4 alloys, centre caps and the lug nuts all for a 100 Euro,Therse are genuine 16" Fird alloys which came off a Mondeo. Here are the condition of the wheels as I got them When I removed the tyres. First step last saturday was to remove all the laquer and top coat form the alloys so that entailed going sandblasting them and here is the result. So that is what I have done so far I have also bought all the paint but wont disclose the colour until the pics are ready

stef123
Having done this myself I can appreciate how much effort has to go in to get them looking great. Are you using aerosols or a spray gun?
Philf1
Looking good. I once did this on an old MGBGT ended up having to hand paint them cause of the different colours but if you are doing one colour that should make them easier.
Focus_IRE
Looking good so far ;) Thanks mate hope they'll look good at the end tho ;) Having done this myself I can appreciate how much effort has to go in to get them looking great. Are you using aerosols or a spray gun? There is a bit of work involved as you do know mate. I am using aerosols mate as I am used to using them especially on the car, never used a spray gun so I said I'd steer clear lol ;) Looking good. I once did this on an old MGBGT ended up having to hand paint them cause of the different colours but if you are doing one colour that should make them easier. I am doing the inside of the alloy in black but painting it on as in using hammerite for a good gloss finish but also durable :)

Focus_IRE
did you sandblast these yourselves, or did you use a third party to do the honours? I sandblasted them myself mate using a hand sandblast at a workshop of one of my friends. Seriously time consuming didnt realise that it would take so long.
