Enko
Someone has offered me their alloys from a saab they are scrapping so was just wondering if anyone can tell me if they are likely to fit without using a hub ring? I believe the pcd is the same but the center bore is 65.1 whereas my mondeo is 63.4 Basically is it possible to do a straight swap or is that unsafe or illegal? ....may just try them tomorrow anyway unless someone tells me its a waste of time. jeebowhite
Definately worth trying them! Have a look at my signature "what wheels will fit my ride" and check the list, it might help you.
Enko
Thanks. I don't think it's going to be as straight forward as I hoped so will probably save my pennies up for some i know will fit but may still try them out.
stevegtuk
these are the vehicles whose wheels will definitely fit yours http://www.wheel-fitment.com/car/Ford/Mondeo%20%282000%20-%202007%29/
Enko
Thanks I had a look but really I just wasn't sure if using wheels with a slightly larger center bore would matter without a hub ring
Damon Cook
Hey guys does anyone know if its ok to use a 15 inch spare on a car with 17 inch alloys??
jeebowhite
Should be fine Damon for spare use only of course
Damon Cook
Ok cool i ask because ive sold my old alloys which includes my spare need to buy a new spare is best to buy space saver or steel
jeebowhite
Go steel, space saver is speed limited, a spare dull size steel will go full speed but a 15 on 17s would need to be speed limited.
Damon Cook
Id buy. 17 inch spare but it wont fit in the wheel well in my boot so guna have to be 15 inch no matter wether its space saver or steel so does it matter which one i get cant flreally go over 70 anyway due to having a black box
jeebowhite
it doesn't matter no. I would prefer the steel, less pressure in the tyre and stronger to support. I have a 17 inch alloy in my boot I'm going to make a false bottom and raise the boot floor up.
Damon Cook
Got a mk1 focus id lose alot of space if i did that
jeebowhite
Ah fair enough I can understand that. In which case go slower but a steel 15 is a good choice

Lenny
did you ever get round to thisI reckon this could be custom built using some light plastic sheets sold as painters sheets in DIY store, Line the boot with it, Get yourself a mask and five cans of expanding foam, Apply layers giving it time to set, Can trim it with Stanley blade when fully hardened, Strong and light,
theredfox
could me messy lenny that foam sticks every where does not matter how careful you are
Lenny
could me messy lenny that foam sticks every where does not matter how careful you are true enough mate, Only other option i can think of is two sections cut out of mdf, With stilts type side pieces underneath to raise the floor up,
Damon Cook
If you get some evo stick resin some 2x4 to make batons glue them to the floor of the boot then make a plywood base and screw to the batons should be solid enough done something similar in the van to store step ladders
jeebowhite
did you ever get round to this Sorry mate, took a while! Yes, I am still in the process of finishing it, whilst its not as pretty as the Ford factory set. its effective and efficient. I must admit, I didnt really make the effort to make it look pretty, also my DIY shack is little more than a lean to where I hold the wood still with my left hand as I saw the wood with the right lol. I will take some snaps as and when I get around to finalising it.
