Synchromesh 1.0 Ecoboost

Featured Replies

I have developed what appears to be a issue with the synchromesh in my Fiesta 1.0 (123). It grinds severely every time I try to engage second either changing up or down. Has anyone else had any similar issues with this as I am very surprised for this to happen to such a new car. It's only a year and half old and 25k on the clock.

I will be taking it into Ford tomorrow for a look at and service. I presume any repair to this will be covered under warranty?

All help is very much appreciated.

Andy.

Yes, it sounds like a mechanical problem so should be covered by the warranty. I wouldn't worry about it until the guys at Ford have had a look.

Is it an audible grind?

If so it sounds like a syncro gone, bit unusual for a Ford I would say.

But if so your warranty will cover it could be a duff part slipped through , one of the downfalls of mass production I'm afraid.

Good luck with it anyway. You never know might just need an adjustment on the gear change mechanism.
