Chelzi2lv
Hello, Im picking up my car on Monday. My parents are buying me an amp and sub for Chirstmas, Bit worried about getting it fitted into a brand new car, dotn want anything to go wrong. I will go to halford or somet to get it fitted, but still... Whats the sound system like in the ST-3? Do i need a sub? Thanks.
Phil 87
Unless you want really powerful bass you don't need a sub in this car, you just need to fiddle with the sound settings to boost the bass. The thing is if you just increase the bass all the way it still seems a bit lacking, so I reduced the treble and mid almost all the way (about 2 above the minimum setting for each). That combined with the bass being all the way up, and increasing the volume to compensate gives much stronger bass. I'd try it like that first and see if you're happy, then you could always return the amp and sub.
MattDRX
Depends if fitted properly etc and the size of the sub / amp, if you're just getting say a 200-250W single channel and a 10" sub should be fine and add some decent punch to it. any bigger I dread to think the rattles it'll cause. can be embarrassing when you can hear it from outside the car. Phil 87
any bigger I dread to think the rattles it'll cause Yes, the car has enough rattles as it is lol. I think mine has got to the point now where all the rattling parts have settled down, either that or I've just got used to them. Even with the standard Speakers you can hear some rattling caused by the bass.
MattDRX
Mine rattles less when the heater starts to do it's job lol. when it's cold it's a joke sometimes over crap roads, in the summer it didn't rattle at all really.

E5GDM
I wouldnt have a sub or amp fitted at Halfords, I'd go to a local audio specialists.
MarksST
As above, if you find the bass a bit lacking you could get the dealer to fit the pioneer underseat sub from the accessory catalogue. I don't find the sound to be that bad for a standard setup, a lot depends on what source and format the music is in.
