The joy of doing what I do - when I looked out the window in the office and saw how nice it was, I just packed up and jumped in the new car - went for a drive and then took the dog a nice walk. Love it.

Very jealous

I had the misfortune of driving home behind a Ssangyong Kyron. The back of that car's something that can't be unseen :puke:

I don't like the thought someone has written off my old car,
Did an online check of my car (Tax updated) and decided to check my old one out of interest,
Almost all free sites (inc Gov) don't have any info for my old Reg (ML09DHK).

The only 2 that work (but show nothing) are https://www.caranalytics.co.uk/ & http://www.etis.ford.com/vehicleRegSelector.do
I can't imagine someone put a private plate on 10+ year old Focus 1.6, would this suggest it's written off now?.

Well you never know. I put a private plate on my 14 year old fiesta zetec s 1.6 diesel 👀🤣

Thing is would these websites state if it has a plate change? My car had about 2-3 private plates before I got it.

No, written off cars still show MOT history etc.  That's either got a private plate or been exported.

I do like seeing that my old Fiesta ST has just passed MOT again this week, now on 133k!

I have another freezer related 'don't like' today!  Not having much luck with them!

Nan has an old chest freezer, it's probably older than me lol.  She was defrosting it when I visited last week and asked me to move it across about 6" to make for easier access with her ever-declining mobility.  I did that, and also noticed the lid hinge pins had popped out by about an inch so tapped them back in with a pin hammer.

When I visited yesterday, she had 3 huge bruises on her arm...apparently the freezer lid had dropped on it 3 times (I guess she hasn't heard the phrase 'once bitten, twice shy!').  She also said there was a large build up of ice around the lid where the seal should be and suggested I'd done something wrong - she loves blaming other people though!

Anyway, on closer inspection I could see a ~1mm gap around the back of the lid.  Any idea how that could happen?  I can't imagine the hinge pins set any sort of height, they're purely there as a pivot surely?  The only thing I could see is that one bottom corner at the back of the freezer casing is bent, I guess that final move was one too many given it's age!  Could that knock the freezer out of shape and cause the lid to no longer fit properly? :g:

The lid hinges just screw to the casing and have some adjustment slots so I've dropped the lid to fit better but I am still worried it's going to fall again as I can't work out why it did before.  It's got the potential to break her arm which would be catastrophic as she has to use a walker to get about and 'drag' herself through doorways using her arms.  Tbh I'm not even sure if she'd be able to get to the phone from the freezer if that was to happen.  She's too proud to wear one of those emergency call buttons though, we've already suggested that many times lol.

TL:DR - What would make a chest freezer lid suddenly unstable and too high to seal?

@TomsFocus Perhaps where youve moved it, it's no longer level so the whole chassis has twisted, causing the lid not to sit properly. It might have adjustable feet to compensate and straighten up again.

Yeah, that's a possibility and would explain the bend I can see at the back.  I wonder if we can jig it like they do on car SOS!

It doesn't have adjustable feet unfortunately.  Nan has it sitting on a pair of 'rollers' though which I'm not keen on and may not be level themselves.  They make it much more difficult to move because they only move forwards and backwards, making a sideways shift difficult.  She reckons they save it from rising damp as it's in a conservatory but I don't believe it...it's her house though so I just do what I'm told!

Also don't like plugging my phone in last night but forgetting to switch the socket on!  And then completely forgetting again this morning until now when I'm just about to leave...let's hope that 11% lasts another few hours!

About £7k, so not too bad when you consider that’s pretty much what the finance payments equates to over the year and a bit we had. Although maybe that is bad, I’m crap at finance things lol.

Nope.  They're carrot shaped rodent chew toys apparently...  I guess you're meant to screw them to a cage but I don't think they need to be ribbed for their pleasure!!

Still after suggestions of £3 items btw!  Otherwise I'll just get a couple of air fresheners from the ECP store...but that's a bit boring!

For those of you who like your small local ford dealer, it won't be for much longer. Ford announced they reducing there 400 dealers to 200 !!

That might mean this is the last Ford for me then. It’s what’s been keeping me in my Ford.

As much as I like Fords, if I’ve got to go deal with a big useless dealer it opens up all the other brands.

Yes, same here. I've found my "local" pretty good over the last 15 years or so, which has been the reason why one of our cars has usually been a Ford.  If they go, then Ford will just have to take their chance against the rest of the field. I did read somewhere though that the plan might be to restrict new sales to the bigger dealer groups (or web sales) and leave some smaller dealers with servicing business and as used car outlets.

Yeah, that's what I heard too. Suppose the viability of the dealer will depend on how reliant on new car business it was.

Luckily where I am, we are one of the biggest dealer groups. Our site has Never been so busy!!

Can't say I'm a fan of my local Ford dealer...only about 3 people work there and they always seem put out by customers arriving!

Stopped buying parts there a while ago, switched to online instead, was quicker, cheaper, saved my fuel and meant I didn't have to deal with the miserable buggers!

Also never bought a car from them as they were so unwilling to give me a straight valuation and chose to try and baffle me with bullshit for their overpriced crap that hadn't even been valeted properly...

I would apply similar comments to most of the big dealer groups franchises around my way, unfortunately.
