I have no love for the car industry these days , cars are mostly built rubbish that last only few years , i changed industry’s , i earn 4 / 5 times more than i used to . There’s just no money working as a mech , even mot testers only earn 35 / 50 k max a year

Hey buddy, this is the internet, you are NEVER talking to an individual unless you use a private message. Guess all that money you're earning is going to your head 🤣

Nothing changes for business sellers and it’s the buyer who pays the fee for private sellers.

Today should be the changeover day...but I can't see where the extra fees are added?  They're not showing on private buyers items for me. 🤔

Maybe it’s just built in to the price you see

I thought that but doesn't seem to be that either as I've just checked my own sales listings while logged out.  I see the same price as a private seller and a buyer.

Currently I'm thinking that maybe it'll be rolled out gradually rather than all listings changed at once.  Or maybe it only gets added at the checkout, but that seems like a sneaky & misleading way to do it so I'm hoping not.

Big corporation being sneaky & misleading....? 😲

Manufacturers who use you as a guinea pig to find out the problems of their newly released products.

PS: I have no problem with this if they compensate me generously in advance😉

Never heard of active bonnets until today. More costs if you have a bump. Rods drive up and pushes bonnet up at rear.

My dad had an RCZ about 10 years ago with that feature and I think his MX-5 has it too. It seems to mainly be on cars with flat/low bonnets, it's to soften the angle when hitting pedestrians, so their body doesn't rotate and their head hit the bonnet first. It almost "reaches" to catch their torso first and then has a bit of space to "spring" back and absorb some energy on impact.

This vehicle didn't get as far as hitting pedestrians luckily.

I know this has been discussed on here before but Amazon infuriates me by the way they ram Prime down your throat all the time. That's just one of the reasons I won't use them unless really desperate. Well, they've just lost another sale. When I started to check out and clicked to continue without Prime it then brought up a note that they'd given me a free Prime trial which I would then have had to cancel.

I couldn't see any way out of that so I emptied the basket, logged out and found the product from another supplier, and it was actually a few pence cheaper although it ended up more expensive because of the delivery charge.

Your loss Amazon!

you can take the prime , when the item is delivered just cancel, i do it all the time they dont track how many and who theyve offered it to, depends on what your buying.

  • 3 weeks later...

A few weeks ago I mentioned seeing no change on ebay listings since the new 'buyers protection fee' was introduced.

Just wanted to update that I do see it now.  It's only applied to new listings, doesn't seem to apply to relisted items that were initially posted before the changeover date.

I can now see the amount buyers have to pay in addition to my own choice of price for a buy-it-now listing when writing the advert.  That has effectively reduced my buyers as I can't compete with trade sellers on items that were only just worth the hassle of wrapping and posting anyway.  I don't expect to sell any of the items I put up this month, but we will see...

Also, on the subject of the internet, I recently found out that opening what I thought was a new, refreshed, page for one of the local estate agents every morning was not actually refreshed at all.  My laptop was holding onto an old page somehow, with outdated property listings on it.  Means that I've potentially missed a new property despite checking every day!  I'm not sure what would make it do that.  Cookies?  I want to clear whatever it is, but do not want to lose any saved or auto-filled passwords as I can't remember half of them!

I use to be paranoid about not saving passwords on my browser. However, I now have so many (100+) it's simply impossible to remember as every site I appear to use needs some kind of password. I'm also a fan now of using the computer generated password of random letters/numbers/symbols that no human could safely remember LOL

Now, I have a fear of my 'laptop' simply breaking and my access to the world disappearing with it! My issue primarily is that I don't fully understand how it all works, not sure how to 'backup' passwords, but my initial reticence of letting my browser handle them has long gone... I also dread the instruction to, 'clear cookies' as like you, there are good cookies, and bad cookies, and I don't know the difference, and even if I did, wouldn't know how to save the good ones!

As for Amazon prime, i just sign up for the free 30 day trial and buy what i need post free and then at about 25 days in i cancel. Do it all the time never had a problem. I keep the email you get from them in my inbox to remind me when i have to cancel, job done. Saved a few bob over the years lol.

I only use Amazon about once or twice a year, I hate them and only use as a last resort when I absolutely can't buy the item from anywhere else. However a few years back, I 'accidentally' signed up for prime on check out as they are relentless on selling Prime, and make it very difficult not to accept it on check out. I did use Amazon a few weeks ago, and it took me an age to check out avoiding all the trip wires on not being hit with an unwanted Prime subscription!

I just use the free Prime and then cancel it immediately.  It still lasts the full 30 days and I have no need to remember to cancel it later in the month.

Now theres an idea ! why didnt i think of that ? probably because im old lol.

Think this might be my most useless piece of Chinese tat ever...  Does anyone else have one exactly the same?  I assumed it would show the actual voltage reading when plugged in...but it just shows 12.5v all the time! 🤦‍♂️Screenshot_20250303-1658272.thumb.png.1ecfbc865cef6c3e8f5afad20adcc1f5.png

Also on the subject of batteries...  I've had a new battery in the boot of the unused car for over 3 years now.  (Never expected it to lay unused for so long!

Checked voltage today and it's at 12.05v.  Do we reckon that'll be revived by ~6 hours of Maypole charging or shall I just condemn it and buy another new one?

Can't do any more than 6 hours of Maypole as there's no plug socket nearby and have to use a large power bank to power the Maypole.  Wondering whether it's worth the hassle atm.

Worth a try i suppose. Until its subjected to a load its hard to say how it will perform. But to be at 12v after three years is pretty good

We recover 12v battery's from 6volts. 🤣🤣
