iant955
Hi Guys & Girls, I have done a fair bit of searching for the answer to this, but to no avail. The nearside rear door on my S-max has a bit of an issue with locking. Sometimes it will lock and sometimes it wont. I have pulled the door card off and checked the cable from the button to the lock and lubricated it, but it seems to move freely. I have also had a look inside the door (as best I can without destroying the soundproofing cover), but can see what type of actuator it has. I assume the actuator is the problem and I'm hoping it's not going to be silly money to replace. I also have to replace another trailing arm due to the bush going again. Anyone had any experience of doing either of these? Cheers Ian

Steve1976
I have a problem with the rear passenger door lock, it locks fine but when I unlock from the key fob I have to open the rear passenger door from inside. Then every time after the first opening it opens every time. Also the child lock does not lock this door but it stops opening of the window. Any ideas? Thanks in advance

Akira14
My 12 plate TXS has just started with this problem on my driver's door, I'll take it to an auto electrician for him to have a look, hopefully it's not too expensive
fiestaecoboostman
Check the wiring where it goes from the car to the door. Every time the door opens and closes the wiring moves, eventually it fails. Pull back the rubber gaitor and inspect, the insulation will usually be broken, but not always. Flex the individual wires by hand and you can feel the break. Sometimes the wires touch and it works. Very common fault. If your handy with crimps and terminals you can fix it yourself. It could be something else, but check the wiring first. Ford stock replacement looms that go into the doors - they are on connectors at each end.

That was for my auto electrician to disgnose the problem then supply and fit the passenger side wiring loom. Hope this helps

Hope this helps I think the loom part was over £60 from Ford if you didn't get any discount. Ridiculous for a few wires, but that's how it goes with car parts. Akira14
Well, I took it to a local specialist garage and they gave it a once over and they have told me it's the motor for the central locking thats on its way out. I've got it booked in for next week.
Akira14
Got my central locking all fixed, was quite expensive though at £340 and that was at a local specialist. I'm just wondering if it would actually been cheaper to go through Ford garage instead

Paulkp
Probably due to the Electronics thinking the door is still open - do you have a "Door Open" indication ? Could be microswitch, or loom.
