  • Dear Lord, I can't believe the money some of you 'kids' are paying for insurance.... Also can't believe the types of cars some of you 'kids' are driving.... I'll update this when I remember how much

  • Look at it this way the more youngsters pay the thieving insurance companies the less we have to pay Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  • Age: 19 Car: 2007 Fiesta 1.4 Zetec 3dr Insurance: Tesco Been driving a year, started July 2014 (£1470). Renewed July 2015 (£606) /w 1 years no claims.

Hmmm, being a Company Director hasn't appeared to lower mine all that much, unless of course it is simply just the area...

Oh, in that case, perhaps my insurer favours Dorset, because their HQ is literally 8 miles away in Bournemouth.

Lower local premiums for local residents

£4.65 refund from my insurance for fitting a Mountune MP215 kit. Bargain.

?????? How the hell do they work that out?

Did you or they put it down as a ST3 215 upgrade? If they did the claim stats for this model might be less than the standard car and so lower they premium.

That's exactly it, they put it as the upgraded model. Means my kit now only cost £691.35. Such a discount :P

That's insane!!!

1.6 tdci is punchy to some extent but not that much! Must be close to the value of the car!!!

It's a Style as well so presumably 90bhp and not even attractive the thieves!

There is a good trick with Elephant though, add some named drivers, preferably older females, (Mum, Nan, Aunt) and that usually brings the premium down significantly.

the insurance is with my mum as second driver lol (14 year licence).

but this is pretty much as cheap as it gets, i live in a high risk area of london too. if i wanted insurance with black box its about 1200 quid, but i figured it isnt worth it. black boxes are a huge headache.

London?  I thought you lived in Syria with a quote like that...

Think I'd have gone with a black box for that kind of saving myself.

Insurance £627.98 .. I guess those 98pence make all the difference in a directors bonus or not!

I can get an 13plate ST-2 fiesta for 800quid though :(

That's what's annoying me about insurance tbh, I can get a newer, faster car for a lower premium!

Currently waiting for my renewal quote (due at end of March so should be here soon!).  As I've had a lot of trouble even getting quotes, let alone sensible ones.  Looks like it won't be under £500 this year, the remap alone seems to add about £100 - definitely not worth it!  Oh, I'm an old man (24) with 7NCB in an A rated post code, parked in a private car park btw...

Older cars = higher risk as they are less safe in a crash

I'd have thought it'd balance out though... Less safe, but slower, so less likely to be pushing further boundaries...

Surely a Mk2.5 Focus is safer than a Mk7.5 Fiesta?  Looks a lot more substantial and you've got more to crumple front and rear before encroaching on passenger space, plus it seems to be filled with heavy airbags everywhere.

Would also think it costs more to repair a newer car if I crashed?  Can go to any scrap yard and find old Focii these days, not many Fiesta's have made it there yet.

I genuinely think they make up a number for insurance lol.

Insurance companies don't use scrap yards though so parts are probably harder to get hold of as cars age.

I'm no expert here whatever they charge it's a mystery to me how it works probably just a random number generator off Google

See my parts for sale on thread "philf1s Spirit Blue Fiesta ST180 parts for sale"

You're probably right!

Just had my renewal, random number this year is £471.  Getting old isn't all it's cracked up to be!
