That Guy
I know this has been covered many times on here but I am trying to remove the locoing wheel nuts from the two back wheels, I purchased the car but sadly did not come with the key. They are the standard Ford Focus ones, I want to try and remove them with a socket due to very limited funds at the moment. This problem is I have tried a 19mm which is too small even with a hammer and 20mm is too big, I am using 12 point sockets. Does any of the experts who has removed these with a socket remember the correct/best size to hammer on? I will then see if I can buy that size on its own. This is the style I have, there doesn't seem to be a sleeve around them: Thanks in advance!

No sadly not, trying to find a set at Halfords *cringe* or any other place which don't cost a small fortune is hard, may have to look online. Have sent an SOS txt to my contacts asking them to check their sheds :) That Guy,do you have a MK1? Sent from my iPad using Ford OC Yes 2003 MK1 (facelift version I think people call it) use a spark plug socket, tap it on with a hammer This will be another option to try, but been told the 12 point sockets will grip better? Jeremyc
Goto your local tyre dealer. Mine was able to remove them without damaging alloy using a specialist removal tool (not a hammer and socket) for £10 for four. Perfect
TomsFocus
If you bought it from a garage get them to remove the nuts!! If you bought it private, look in all the door pockets and under the spare etc, I've found them in weird places before lol.

Perfect Will check the garage behind my work see what they say, from reading posts on here most places seem to charge between £30-£50 to remove them. Purchased the car privately, glove box and door pockets were empty, checked under spare wheel. Was wondering if there is storage behind the boot wall lining but don't think there is? simcor
Try a MR tyre, they have the dynomec nut removal kits, charge usually between £5-10 per wheel.
ScaniaPBman
Looks like you are not desperate just yet. I suggest that you have a read here and see post #5 for choices. I followed the third line and contacted Autostyle Wheels in Liverpool. He was very helpful and did the biz with a minimum of fuss and bother. You do need a good, detailed, clear, close-up digital picture of the wiggly pattern on the face of the locking nut which he will send off to McGard. They will send you promptly the new key direct from Germany. It's non destructive and economical to do. Of course if your car is now sitting with a flat or bald tyre right now, go for some instant action. If I remember correctly the above method took about a week from first contact to the key dropping through the letterbox. Let's know how you get on. That Guy
15/16th and a 3/4 are the two I tend to use Sadly 15/16th was huge, way too big. 3/4 was just slightly too small to be hammered on, what would the next size up be from this?
