kyle_saloontdci
Bought myself a 2007 focus saloon 1.8 tdci Ghia off my dad cheap. Not really my sort of car at all but after seeing a few of these modified I started to see the potential it had. With it being a Ghia it's got plenty of kit, cruise control, auto lights and wipers, auto dimming rear view mirror, heated front and rear screens and I think it's a late mk2 as its got the oval Sony stereo and the red dash lights with ambient lighting. Anyway first thing that had to go was the horrible 16" wheels. I really wanted either focus st wheels or mondeo titanium x wheels. I always thought st wheels were 2 a penny but my god a cheap set are hard to find!! Anyway I got a set of 5 titanium x wheels with good dunlops on for a bargain price so I did a 5 hour round trip to go get them :) Before After Looks 100000000 times better just with those wheels on but I am going to get some 35mm apex springs for it , these will be ordered this week and I'll fit them when I have a spare few hours. kyle_saloontdci
With the new wheels I now thought I'd be able to add my hid's from my previous car so I ordered and fitted led side lights and number plate bulbs and also chrome indicator bulbs. I then debadged the rear at the same time. Before After Quite happy with the looks now will look loads better once lowered then I want to tint the windows but not too dark so maybe medium on the rear windows, I'd quite like a exhaust on it but not sure which tip will suit it?? I'd quite like a spoiler on it too but can't seem to find any for the focus saloon that will look subtle and not a huge jap type wing. Ben87
Looks really good mate and looking forward to seeing the rest your progress. I really like the focus in the saloon model looks smart. Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC
kyle_saloontdci
Cheers I took a lot of inspiration from the one on here with the cc front bumper hence the wheels. Not gunna be changing the bumpers but I do want to colour code the rear bumper strip. Also going to hopefully pick up some grey and black cloth recaro seats from a st either at the weekend or start of next week Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Brigante
Wheels, lowering and tints make a good improvement from standard. You say you dont want to change the bumpers, but how about fitting bumper lips to the existing bumpers instead to finish the look? I have a genuine ms design kit for sale. Dont think the rear lip will fit the saloon with being modified but the front lip and skirts will go straight on no problem
kyle_saloontdci
I did have a look for some splitters but couldn't find any, have you got some pics of yours? How much you selling them for? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
kyle_saloontdci
Got a egr delete sat here waiting to go on it and I have ordered some lowering springs for it finally!! Decided to go for some 40mm h&r springs as the apex ones had mixed reviews and I'm not overly impressed with the eibachs on my fabia so thought I'd try these as I've heard good things about them. Will be delivered tomorrow and I'll try and fit them either Saturday or some time next week, just hope the rear bolts of the arm aren't sized in [emoji35][emoji35] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
kyle_saloontdci
So my springs tried to get delivered yesterday but the wife was out [emoji35][emoji35] hopefully they'll get delivered on Monday now. I fitted my egr delete Really easy to do I just slackened off the two 10mm bolts here Then slotted in the blanking plate, a lot easier with the one where there is a cut out rather than bolt holes so you don't have to actually take the pipe off. Tightened back up and you wouldn't even know it's on Nipped to Halfords as my rear side light bulb was out and it drove so smooth and seems to have got rid of the stutter at 2000rpm. Felt abit quicker too but don't know if it's in my head but I only did 2 miles so I'll give it a proper test next week. While I was at Halfords I picked up some black plastic paint as the wood effect stereo surround was not to my taste at all [emoji23] I did want to wrap it but I always struggle for time so decided to just spray it. First coat on and in the shed to dry, only looks patchy as its wet but I'll post pics when done. kyle_saloontdci
It dried really quickly so it's now in the car [emoji3] looks like a oem piece it's got the textured look of ford plastic to it. Looks quite dark but I prefer it to the wood effect, I think maybe gloss black would of looked good to match the stereo but this matches all the other trim Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Lenny
Focus looks great, Some Custom Heater Control knobs would go nicely with the black panel, See fitting Guide among the list here: http://www.fordownersclub.com/forums/topic/68214-full-list-lennys-guides/
chemfusion
Which black paint exactly was it that you used for the centre console? Was it just matt black spray or the bumper stuff?
kyle_saloontdci
I used this black bumper spray as it was for plastic. No priming or rubbing down just sprayed on [emoji106] I think a set of heater knobs will be ordered should make it look loads better Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
chemfusion
I'll think I'll use the same for mine - looks really smart what you've done! On mine (Fusion not Focus) the plastic has a tacky almost sticky feel to it, I don't know if it's degraded in the sun or not but it just catches dust and you can leave streaks in it with a fingernail - this bumper stuff should make it look loads better :) Edit: It looks like the plastic that your heater knobs are made of actually

Gunna order some now off eBay then that should be pretty much the interior done apart from I need to get some recaros out of a st for it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
kyle_saloontdci
My h&r springs are now in my hall way [emoji3][emoji3][emoji3] will fit them sometime towards the end of the week when I get a spare few hours hopefully it will sit nice on them Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Lenny
Look forward to seeing springs fitted, Highly recommend fitting Eibach adjustable rear camber bolts there purpose built for focus and cost 20-25 pounds need to cut off existing bolts with grinder to fit these Followed by laser tracking to correct camber preventing excessive wear on tyres such as this:
kyle_saloontdci
Is this for the back subframe or the front? When I worked at ford a few years ago I used to do the rear subframe bolts with the shim on so you could track it from the rear then the front. I fitted the springs this aft so will let them settle for about 500 miles then it will be in for tracking Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
kyle_saloontdci
So I had the afternoon free so thought I'd get it on the ramp and do the springs. I measured roughly the arch gaps front and rear just for reference to see how much lower it sits straight away and if they settle any lower. I've changed rear springs on loads of focus's in my time and usually the bolts are seized in so they need cutting and new bushes and bolts so I thought I'd end up either cutting the old springs out and clamping the new ones and barring them in then gas axing the clamps off or having to order bushes and doing it another day but for the first time ever both sides unbolted and the bolts came out [emoji50][emoji50][emoji50] so it only took me about 2 1/2 hours all in to get them changed and I also sorted the exhaust heat shield, checked tyre pressures and levels etc. Anyway some pics. Front before and after a 5 mile drive to settle it Rear before and after They have nearly lowered 40mm straight away but I will check again after about 500miles. The front sits lovely but the rear sits abit higher but it sat like this before so I'm hoping the rear comes down abit if not I might look into grinding a small coil off each of the rear as I read a lot of focus owners do this as they do sit back end high [emoji35][emoji35] I'll see how it settles though. So a pic of it as it stands after a 5 mile run Very impressed with the ride so far, I've had lots of different cars with different suspension set ups and I've never had h&r before but the ride seems very comfy and not much harder than standard. A lot better than the eibachs I've got on my furby or the coilovers I had on it before that. Will see how it is after 500miles and report back though but very impressed so far [emoji106][emoji106] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Dan P
That's looking better - I agree that bringing the rear down a bit more would be good. I find a guitar amp in the boot can be quite effective!

I find a guitar amp in the boot can be quite effective!I've got all my tools and a flat bed trolley in the boot!! It might settle abit more when it's had a few miles on but at least I know it unbolts at the rear so it's not gunna be a big job to take the springs out and give them a haircut if need be [emoji23]Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
WES180
Looking good! Ive always liked the saloons. I know its a bit late now but dont they do a 60 rear/40 front lowering kit to get an even looking drop?

Thanks I'm liking it now it's lowered, not seen a 60/40 kit but I think 60 would be too much and it would be sat nose high. It seems to have settled abit more over night so I'll see how it is in a few days if it's only slightly higher at the back I'll leave it as it isSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
