Hi I have a couple of questions....

Just bought a Mk1 1.8 Ghia saloon and am on the look out for second hand aftermarket parts, my questions are.....

- What other brand/models wheels fit the Mk1 focus

- Does the focus share shocks and springs with any other model

- I assume it has a different exhaust to the normal focus with it having a boot....am I right in thinking this ?

- How easy is it to change all the internal bulbs (in the instruments and switches)

-what are the max size wheels without any fettling that fit the Mk1, and how much can it be dropped by but keeping it sensible and usable.

40mm lowering springs are reasonable for daily driving,

Some cross drilled & grooved brake discs are straight swap upgrade look good,

Some hammerite smooth finish silver paint is good for painting drum brakes or spacer section on discs,

Depending on engine size you can fit 18" rims but the bigger the rim the smaller the side wall of the tyre.

18" will be same overall size as stock wheel

difference is smaller side wall of rubber and more rim

however bigger rims contribute to unsprung mass which will reduce performance and if your engine is a 1.4 then you may be left with a slammed snail.

Some Hammerite smooth finish silver paint is cheap and great for brightening up the rear drums brakes and spacer section of the front brake discs,

Especially if fitting alloys.

I also recommend to eliminate contamination from the oil sump and help things run smoother;

I recommend purchasing 5 litres of cheap oil say Halfords brand for example.

drain existing oil

put cheap oil in,

Followed by a bottle of Xado Total Flush

run engine for 20 minutes,

Then drain the oil

fill up with Castrol brand

engine will run smoother,

Also use Xado Multi Cleaner prior to having fuel filter changed

the stuff really makes a difference.
