fiesta1881
Does anyone know if the 100ps engine is just the same as the 125ps one but with its software turned down. Thanks
iantt
more or less thats about right on the ecoboost 1.
fiesta1881
Hope so as I have gone from a 125ps to a 100 and noticed the difference so tonight I installed bluefin and it feels like driving the 125 again. If the engine are the same than great no damage to it.

Alzy
Does the re mapping void the warrenty?
Paramanic
Remapping does avoid warranty but ye can take it off and they won't know it's on Also the 100ps 125ps engines are the same but the exhaust valve timings are different and gear ratio is different too the bluefin should take it to around 138bhp so should feel quicker than the 125ps you had
Maltozo
*I essentially understand the following applies: 125PS has higher grade alloy for its turbo than the 100PS - for higher heat tolerances If considering re-mapping/power/torque increase it may also be worth bearing in mind the main differences are actually between the Zetec S 125PS & 140PS Red/Black Editions. - The 140PS has a beefier uprated head gasket...... BOTH have restricted boost/torque in 1st/2nd gears to protect poorly rated IB5 gearbox rating........ 140PS Red/Black Editions have a different diff (!) for lower overall gearing a fact born out by........ ....having extensively owned/driven both (and an ST). Personally I would say that the Zetec S 125PS is perhaps rather obviously a little more relaxed on the motorway/flowing 'A' roads. (Roughly pulls just over 2500rpm against Red Editions just under 3000rpm at 70mph in top). But, the Zetec S 125PS essentially suffers from being over-geared and could be a real pain at times in urban/town work but does achieve approx. 3 or 4mpg more. Whilst 0-62 does not feel much different, totally silly measure anyway, 0-100mph would provide a truer comparison, the mid-range of the Red 140PS feels significantly quicker due to the 'triple whamy' of more BHP, more torque and lower overall gearing, though still feels noticeably lacking in pure outright grunt compared to an ST. Stating the obvious, but it is very obvious on the open road! * = Stand to be corrected/questioned over anything.....always willing to learn/be enlightened! fiesta1881
Thanks for all the replys. Maltozo you say " 125PS has higher grade alloy for its turbo than the 100PS - for higher heat tolerances" will this become a issue in the future. iantt
The 100 now uses the 125 turbo, and the 125 now uses the 140 turbo.
Maltozo
Honestly don't know. Will try and find out for you but guessing it might be a bit tricky doing so. Hopefully someone else might know. All I would add is that after a hot run on a hot day I would turn start/stop off and also let it tickover for at least 30 secs before turning off at the end of a run. Ie dont turn it off straight away. Very isolated UNCONFIRMED reports of turbos seizing EXTREME driving/heat. Forgot where I came accross it? I'm guessing that here in good old dull, cold wet UK all should be fine......... Ah good! Just seen a reply posted by 'iantt' that answers your question.
