Giving it further thought it is probably the fan that would fail before and LED did, those thing have a ridiculous lifespan. Don't forget some of them don't even have fans, there is some sort of weird loops of 'material' at the back to dissipate the heat. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk You would hope so, but how many dodgy products come out of China for every good one? If something needs a fan, or even just a heat sink, it must produce a hell of a lot of heat. How does this translate into faulty LEDs going wrong, or even just reaching the end of their life? I would obviously hope it's without event :)
Jonro2009
@Iniyan95 the LED kits have ballasts with them, one for each unit. Inside the ballast is something that tricks the CANbus into thinking there is a 'normal' halogen bulb in place. This does have its drawback though, even if an HID/LED unit fails it won't show the failure on the dash you have to do the old fashioned thing and check [emoji6]Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Jonro2009
You can say that about anything we buy@GaryPL we never really know the quality of anything as we can't guarantee the workmanship of components used inside a product. I've not heard of anything untoward happening, yet. I think I would be more worried about the fact that the clusters being upgraded with HID/LED bulbs are not type approved for that use, nor is the wiring so it probably carries the biggest risk there? This is why I always have a fire extinguisher in my cars [emoji6]Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Pd2
Due to time constraints, I didn't get to take as many pictures as I would have liked. One of each bulb in... After messing with the ISO on the camera to capture the lenses properly... Halogen. Matches the DRL. LED. Doesn't match DRL, but I can live with that. Light difference shining into garage... Both in... Silvatec front indicators if anyone's interested... Rears... Also done the wing mirror indicators but never took pictures. And the new car itself. Now got 420 miles on it. (Pics before bulb changes) Paul.
