Marian86
Hello, I recently purchased a Ford Fiesta mk7 1.4 petrol titanium 2008 , I enjoy it so far , but I'm concerned about a whooshing noise it makes when accelerating from 1.500 to 2000 rpm . I can hear the noise best when I'm alone in the car and in lower gears such as 1st 2nd 3rd and always from 1.500 - 2.000 rpm when accelerating , after 2.000 rpm it's a normal healthy noise from my opinion. The sound comes from the passenger side , it's sounds more like a fan being turned on at maximum speed , the moment I pass 2000 rpm it's gone . Any idea what it could be ? It's just how the car is ? First time owning a petrol/ford fiesta , it does not have turbo no ? (to check intercooler pipe leak or something) If you can point me in the right direction I would appreciate it , thank you for your time. Luke4efc
The car is naturally aspirated, only turbo versions are the 1.0L ecoboost and the 1.6L in the ST etc. Maybe check your airbox and intake to see if there are any cracks, even if it's not a turbo, you will still have a fair amount of air being sucked in, just seems strange how it stops after 2,000 rpm.
GingerFlame
Are you sure the sound is actually stopping at 2k? Or is it being covered up by the engine and road noise?
Marian86
thank you for your reply's, from my point of view the noise stops after 2.000 rpm or it's not that strong fading away , also if i have a passenger in the car the noise can be barely noticed ...when alone in the car it's more noticeable .. it's very strange , i had a quick chat with a mechanic and he said that's how the car is , but he left me with the impression that he was trying to get rid of me ...i will try and make a video of the sound..

Certainly doesn't sound right to me. I can't comment on what the problem is but I'm fairly sure that is not normal
Jethro_Tull
hard to be sure from the recording, but that sounds like intake noise to me. Possibly a hose not clamped down right?
