Quick fix for leaking heater matrix MK6

2002 Mk 6 Fiesta :Heater matrix  is leaking badly so had to dump car. Trying to avoid getting a tow by bypassing the matrix. Can I disconnect hoses at bulkhead and jointogether with a bit of copper or plastic pipe. If this is doable whats the pipe size of the rubber heater hoses so I can get something to connect them together. I'm hoping I can dio this roadside and then refill with coolant and drive her home.....

    I have seen it done before on other cars with copper pipe. The hose size will be 5/8" if a copper pipe fits inside it.
