GrahamH
Hi, just spent 6 weeks towing a caravan round France. The car was loaded and nose weight of the van 70Kg but the rear of the car gradually got lower and lower. I'm thinking that the rear springs are tired as the load/weight is not over the spec. Should I just replace them with standard springs or try and find some uprated springs? Would uprated springs make the ride too harsh when not towing tho? GrahamH
Replaced both rear springs today with HD ones (£69 the pair from BMF delivered) Not too difficult, didn't need a spring compressor. Jacked it up and put on axle stand. Removed bolts holding anti-roll bar from the chassis and removed the bolt from the hub to cross member (after supporting with trolley jack.) Lowered the crossmember until I could take the spring out. Refitted new spring and torqued all the bolts up (3 off). Will see what it rides like with the caravan on but only feels marginally stiffer at the mo.
