Rear shock absorber replacement cost advice

Hello all!

I've just had a major service done on my Fiesta (2009). It came back with an advisory on the rear shock absorber, say it was leaking a needs to be replaced.. also suggesting that I replace both.

The service was done at a ford garage and quoted at £520+ for both to be replaced.

I'm very inexperienced with all this.. so my question is this.. is that a good price? Or can I get it done for cheaper at a non ford garage?

Thanks for any advice!

£520 to replace 2 rear shocks :ohmy::ohmy::ohmy:

Sachs shock absorbers would set you back around £50 a piece and take about 20 mins each to fit.

Lol :) Ok, I guess I must have reeked of noob when walking into that place. Any idea on what's a more "acceptable" price for when I call up local garages?

Thanks for the replies!

If the shocks are £50 each, then add an hours labour onto the price - that's the minimum most places will charge even if it only takes 20 mins to complete the job.

Ah ok great. Yeah £520 is pretty nuts then. Well, thanks for the advice all! I'll be looking at local garages then. Cheers!
