I have an intermittent problem with my headlights.

usually they work fine, but sometimes the main beam will not come on either side, side lights still work as do fog lights.

I have sat in the car as its running, waiting and sometimes they just start to work after 10mins of sporadically trying, sometimes they dont.

any ideas...

when you say main beam, do you mean high beam - do the headlights work on dip but not main beam, or do you mean that the headlights do not work at all (ignoring sidelights)?

if you switch main light switch on and off a few times does it help?

if you switch from dip to high beam a few times does that help.

if you bang the switch area with hand does that help

could be switches, could be relays.

I think from memory the relays are above the fuses behind the glovebox. are relays pushed in slots properly.  does relay click when you try the switches?

I don't get main beam or high nothing but sidelights.

I will check the clicking relays asap
