Replacing lock barrels on MK5 Cabriolet

Hi

I am in need of some advice please.  I am wanting to replace the lock barrels on my MK5 escort cabriolet (J reg 91) and I am unsure as to how to remove the actual lock barrels from the vehicle.  I have a complete new genuine lock set for the car waiting to go in but I am confused.  How do I remove the door lock barrels firstly and how do I refit them.  I am confident that I know how to do the ignition lock barrel.  The others that have slightly thrown me are the boot and the fuel cap ones.  I don't want to pay extortionate costs in order to do these and I am pretty confident that I can do it myself with a little bit of help.  Once I have done one door I can do the other.  Please can someone assist me as I cannot for the life of me find anything on youtube about it.

Many thanks in advance.

Pretty sure there is some information in the Haynes manual if you get hold of one.

Hi Janinea,

According to Haynes you remove the door inner trim panel and the insulation sheet. On the cabriolet you have to remove the door window glass to get access to the door locks.Where fitted undo the two screws and remove the barrel shield.Slide free the barrel retaining clip, detatch the connecting rod and remove the lock barrel.

Open the boot and undo the screw securing the barrel retaining clip and remove clip.Detatch the barrel from the link rod and withdraw the lock from the boot lid.

Hope this helps.

Dave
