FatHead1979 Posted February 24, 2020 Share Posted February 24, 2020 The 1.6 petrol of that vintage had an issue regarding not having a "cover" for the engine and this coupled with leaky washer jets can allow water to pool where the spark plugs sit. Volvo (amongst others) also used this engine and there's apparently a Volvo engine cover that fits that engine and ensures any water leaking from the jets runs harmlessly away.
