Kerrino
Hi I'm new to the group. I've received a 2009 1.6 ztec and neither the fob or the key are allowing access to the car so I'm unable to get inside at any 5 doors. I am assuming my only option would be a locksmith at this point but I thought it was worth asking for alternative options. Any help is much appreciated! sussamb
If you've 'just received it' sounds like you've been given the wrong key!
Alex.S
Yep if the physical key doesn’t fit , it’s the wrong key.

When you say you've 'received' the car, do you mean it was dropped off and you saw it running ? or it was left outside your house ? Does sound like you've the wrong keys though 🙈
YOG
Best to contact the person you "received" it from.
isetta
Perhaps deadlocks are on and it needs new battery in key fob(if it’s not wrong key)
sussamb
The key should still open it though.
mozz
Looking at your avatar, you look very young to own a car. 1
isetta
"The key should still open it though." (if deadloacks on) But don't you have to force the key beyond what would be considered normal? (never tried it myself)
sussamb
Don't believe so but instructions are in the handbook I think, pouring with rain outside or I'd check.
StephenFord
I think that after 8 hours of being 'locked out', the OP has sorted whatever ailed him LOL
