Do like just being out and about in the car today. I don’t however like getting constant -200 errors!

I do like getting the all clear from the doctor further to a cancer scare.  Still got lots of problems in my life but at least now I've (hopefully) got a lot of time to deal with them.

  • I do like finally finishing a model kit I first started 5 and a half years ago.  It's a very special model that i was supposed to finish by the time the aircraft took her final flights across the UK

I do like thanks to the new rules in Scotland I was able to visit my mother today (since we both live alone) and make her my "extended household" therefore not worrying about social distancing and we can even stay over in each other's houses.

At least I can now visit one person and pretend for a while that we're not still in the midst of a pandemic

Also the irony of wee Nicola who was so critical of Boris changing ‘stay at home’ to ‘stay vigilant’, but has just changed ‘stay home’ to ‘stay safe’...!

In fairness, everyone can't stay at home forever...it's the timing of the changes that are disputed.  We need to try and get the economy going again before the second wave hits in October.

I don't like the bubble idea though...it's not actually 'safe', it's just damage limitation.  If one of you gets it, you'll still give it to the rest of the bubble.  I'd rather keep the 2m apart and stay outside personally.  I'm not a touchy person though so do appreciate other people like touching eachother lol.

To be honest Tom nothing is safe at the moment, as you say it is damage limitation whilst allowing single people to not be completely isolated.  I think with you in England one single person can form a bubble with multiple people from another household, but here in Scotland it has to be only 2 single adults and you cannot have multiple "bubbles" it must be 2 single households only.

I personally however would not form an extended household with an elderly person or someone with serious health conditions, but I appreciate for some that's a risk they are willing to take after months of potentially having no physical contact with anybody.

I thought he changed it to "Stay Alert", which was completely vague and at that moment in time premature.  Mind you when big Boris is in power we all have to stay alert!!

I guess the idea with the bubbles is that you minimise contact with anyone from outside those bubbles, therefore lowering the risk of giving it to people elsewhere? I’m seeing  things from health professors and the WHO that believe it may be increasingly unlikely a second wave will hit, but who really knows?

No-one really knows, that's the problem!

The bubbles should keep the national R rate down but it's still not 100% safe and a lot of people don't understand this...unless it's just my relatives!  Schools will also be using bubbles now...30 kids in a class from September, if just one gets it from thier parents doing a Tesco trip, the other 29 have the potential to catch it/carry it, pass it to their parents, who are each 'bubbling' with a vulnerable elderly relative...  Of course, it's nowhere near as bad as 'normal' life where people go around licking everyone they meet, but I couldn't cope with the guilt if I 'bubbled' with my Nan, passed it to her being asymptomatic myself and ultimately killed her...

Their reasoning for no second wave is that cold countries have been hit just as hard as hot countries.  It doesn't seem to prefer cold weather like normal flu.  However, there are other things going on in winter, people tend to stay indoors more and be in close contact more which is likely to cause a spike, even if the actual temperature doesn't affect it.  Not to mention we'll have to be down to 1m distance by next month, let alone the Autumn, getting covered in twice as much gob as we are now!

Don't know where your living where people lick each other to greet one another 😂

In my uni they are part of Royal free hospital and I'm currently doing my dissertation there (currently staying at home due to these circumstances). My supervisor is the director of the microbiology department there and every Wednesday I join in with their team meetings where one of the people there talks about there research project.

Looks like they are doing a few covid19 clinical trials one I remember called covacta which probably might be a vaccine. One of the people working in the labs researched about the likelihood of contracting secondary infections after recovering from covid19 and the main thing you'll contract is S. Pneumoniae which causes pneumonia. Now if you get that likely you have less survival as your immunosuppressed from the previous infection from covid

So as I thought even if you "recover" from COVID-19 you're not out of the woods yet.  God help us.

Almost lost our son to pneumonia when he was two weeks old he got it in his right lung, then when he was in quarantine in hospital they cleared the right lung but it was then in the left lung and at that point he had gotten MRSA which is the hospital super bug; so at 16 weeks old they sent him home with MRSA and pneumonia in the left lung with fingers crossed, which also affected my wifes mental health at the time where she got postnatal depression where it was a case of her never taking him out of her arms only to change his nappy; then extreme anxiety that someone was coming to take him,

Thank God they both fully recovered with fantastic work from all health services he's now five years old, running around while making car noises; we were told by doctors; he could become asthmatic after it but when he reaces age 7 that there's no risk of asthma provided he didn't get it before then, also advised to keep him away from animals st the time because they could bring on asthma, but thankfully he has been fine so we eventually got a Bearnese beagle last year and there best pals.

However the main point I wanted to say regarding pneumonia and life there after; I know a 57 year old man in work whom had it six years ago and our son had it few years back too,

👇Main point I wanted to make is here lol 👇

Now both fully recovered; but any time either of them are subjected to a sudden change in temperature as in a sudden drop in temperature; such as weather change during the night or getting out of the house on a frosty morning; both of them begin to get a runny nose and cough after a short period of time, if they don't wrap up well,

I think they call it 'kissing' to make it sound less disgusting than it actually is.

Yeah remember you'll have to give it I'd say to be safe at least 2 - 3 weeks or more for your immune system to recover from the infection. I think that as the lungs got infected the immune system in that part becomes weak after the attack so needs time to recover. I remember years ago getting a cold and less than a week after I got better I got a fever so likely a secondary infection. S pneumoniae I believe is an opportunistic bacteria so it likely lives on or in us but will cause infection if it has the chance to like a weakened immune system.

@Lenny I remember you saying about your son. Good to see he's fully recovered and fit and healthy 👍. In my dissertation I'm researching about infective endocarditis (infection of the inner layer of the heart) and why the incidence of it has increased in the last decade. Something I've looked into is healthcare associated infections and that the healthcare setting is where most people get this infection from. I'll be honest from the hospitals I've been working in they do seem to be clean so probably might come down to equipment such as cannalas.

Ah well thank god I don't do this stuff 😂. Probably will when I get my teeth straightened hopefully and get married one day. My dentist appointment which was surposed to be last week got cancelled due to the places closing due to CoronaVirus. I am starting to consider cutting my own hair now but I need a place and a good size mirror so I can see when I'm cutting from behind.

I'm cautiously looking forward to this week after being stuck working at home for 14 weeks - work's been busy and I'm really starting to crave some variety (not to mention some time without the kids so Mrs. TimST2 and I can do some of the things we can't do right now).

So anyway... the weather forecast is good, I'll be in the office on Tuesday (for only the second time since lockdown) while the ST gets it's annual service, and I'm taking Wednesday off with the family to drop the Caterham off for its 3 month / 1000 mile service and have a day out at the National Trust in the Cotswolds. There's even a plan to get takeaway Fish and Chips on Thursday.

Small things

I do like fitting these Stainless Steel drain covers after our dog ate the plastic ones and was drinking out of the drain; purchased these on Amazon

Link: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00BM7V2GG?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_dt_b_asin_image

@Lenny we've had our (past) Rottweiler chew through a satellite cable, a plastic comb (still got that now as a little sentimental thing), pillow and green spray can amongst other things in the past. Our dogs now are less destructive individually but the buggers do occasionally find the odd thing to chomp through. A month or so back they managed to get hold of an escapee chicken from the back garden but couldn't blame them for eating that.

I almost forgot this (and don't have a photo for the time being) but I do like finally fitting the sequential indicators, switchback front fog lights and dual boot LEDs that I picked up from Autobeam (admittedly the boot LEDs had been with me for more than 6 months but I forgot them in a box and only found them last month).

Went for the switchback fogs as though the white light now matches all other front lights, the yellow option at least gives me a decent light to use in foggy conditions as white lights tend to reflect back. @zain611 will get you a clip/photo later  .

Look forward to that 👍. I still have my switchback fogs boxed up in my room as they don't fit in my car as there isn't enough space on the right fog light for the fan unit.

Also do like my childhood game getting a sequel after all these years 😁

I can imagine them being like the Mitchell brothers in eastenders back when there were two of them 😅

Brought our lad to the vets yesterday morning at 10am for castration; collected him yesterday evening at 17:00 had to dress him up like silence of the lambs not because he would bite but because he is nervous and growls; I didn't want them to be rough with him (no pun intended)

Came home with the wrong lead and drugged up to the eyeballs,

20200622_170441.thumb.jpg.832536d2e2597a1461c9d35cb9e70c9e.jpg

was just standing in the living room and not moving anywhere; then trying to get comfortable with the inflated collar on him, I sat on the sofa and lifted him on to my lap; facing towards me, put his back legs one on each of my thaigh's and his front legs on my shoulders so he could sleep on my shoulder without any pressure on the affected area.

Worked well as he slept for two hours like that, we have been staying up with him all night I've done from 3am to now, hes gotten his sence of smell back at 4am going around the back garden and hes starting to wag his tail a bit again; good to see him returning to himself

His first feed since 18:00 last Sunday will be at 10am bought him some gourmet wet trays which he gets the odd time, cant walk him for 10 days

Hmm, don't remember that at all!  Must've been for older kids I reckon!

I had Spyro around the same time, and Looney Tunes Time Busters...and a bit later the Harry Potter game that has now become a meme, the graphics were laughable even then!
