I do like getting the all clear from the doctor further to a cancer scare.  Still got lots of problems in my life but at least now I've (hopefully) got a lot of time to deal with them.

  • I do like finally finishing a model kit I first started 5 and a half years ago.  It's a very special model that i was supposed to finish by the time the aircraft took her final flights across the UK

Lol as long as it's genuine. I keep receiving very convincing emails about big tax rebates on an almost daily basis!😀

No emails, just a nice four figure cheque on it’s way to my bank account.Hopefully the transaction will show up in three or four days👍

Never reply to them. The HM revenues tax office, will never text you or send an email. They will usually contact you by post or even just give a rebate through your wages at work, which is how I got mine.

Absolutely - and HMRC do always make this plain.  I can see why folk do fall for it though, some of them are very convincing indeed.

Other thing I'm seeing at the moment is Bitcoin scams - presumably as it's been in the press a lot recently. Apparently Tesla have made more money from trading Bitcoin than selling cars.

Do like getting a £5 off £20 Amazon voucher just for streaming a free song...

Not so keen on the fact it's only valid for a few weeks and there's nothing I need atm.  Might get a Smart battery charger pre-empting the need for one on the Focus that I don't even have yet lol...  Which charger are people recommending currently?  NOCO or CTEK right?

If you want to save some money then wait till Lidl have one in stock.

I bought one from there when I got my new car and according to the instructions it charges exactly the same as the more expensive branded ones although if the voltage is less than 6V then it will think that you have a 6V battery. it also has a cycle for AGM.

I have not needed to use it yet but I don't doubt the literature that came with it.

I've never bought or needed a charger. Got a set of jump cables if the need arises ( unused)

Bought my 1st charger in 1979, still have it, and it still works, though I have upgraded!

Big fan of the Maypole battery charger. Click here... It has one killer feature that many don't. After a power cut, it will automatically resume charging the battery. Most others will want a button pressed again. Why is this useful? Well, if you leave you car on charge and go on holiday, if you have a power cut whilst away, you'll come back to a fully charged car, with others, you won't!

Oh, and it's a great charger, rated at up to 120 Ah, coming with jumper leads or a more permanent fly lead which I have installed. Also the backlight of the display changes from red on charge, to green when ready, just a nice feature! Also, far cheaper than your proposed (NOCO, CTEK), and does pretty much the same thing...

Jump cables only work if you have local friends.  :sadwalk:

I have had to use my battery charger a few times, but it's for non-SS cars.  I'm also genuinely worried about the Mk4 battery issues and majority short drives.  Thought a trickle charger might be useful.

Any other ideas for something to buy specifically from Amazon for £20-£30 if not a battery charger?

I wouldn't fret too much about the battery and short distances. Mines been fine on only 3.4 miles to work even with the heated windscreens/ heated seats etc on most mornings.

You gotta have faith as Michael George once said ......😉

Funny you say that. Got a SMS message about that and also a royal mail message about a parcel coming for me and I need to pay £2. The link I went onto said this website has been reported so dead giveaway it's fake

I had the Royal Mail one.It made me think because I was actually due a package from them. After some due diligence i soon understood it was a phishing expedition.

Still happens in rural areas...  My Nan got stuck in her electric riser/recliner recently, not having owned it long.  Amazingly they only fit a disposable 9v battery backup to them, instead of one that constantly recharges from the mains!

LOL, you obviously live in an urban area, I live in a rural one where barely a month goes by without some idiot pigeon landing on a pylon and knocking us all out for a bit!

Nope, I live out in the sticks.Having said that there is a nuclear power station close by perhaps I have a direct power line and don’t know about it👍

Perhaps there's a reason why one suffers from pigeon strikes and the other doesn't......🤔

Someone's been watching too much Simpsons...

There was a good documentary about Chernobyl on earlier in the week with Ben Fogle.  Worth finding on catch-up if you're into that sort of thing!

Top Gear also did a feature through the same area but can't remember if it was a 'special' or just a standard episode. You wouldn't catch me going near the place!

Where I live the time to get alittle concerned is when the siren goes off, 4 fire engines go thundering past and the police start knocking on doors asking us to swallow iodine tablets and take shelter under a sturdy table ha ha.I fear it would be too late by then.
