I had to enter a Faraday cage at the local Hyundai dealer yesterday due to all the electric cars on display

This is what I would want if surrounded by lithium battery vehicles!

I do like getting the all clear from the doctor further to a cancer scare.  Still got lots of problems in my life but at least now I've (hopefully) got a lot of time to deal with them.

  • I do like finally finishing a model kit I first started 5 and a half years ago.  It's a very special model that i was supposed to finish by the time the aircraft took her final flights across the UK

Not if he is squirting water. Lithium reacts violently with water.

Yeah, the AA batteries were flat and needed replacing. Just found it easier to swap cars.

So is this true?

I don't want to be anywhere near and electric car when the batteries are on fire.

You are right, you need specialist fire extinguishers o put out lithium fires, certainty don't throw water on it. I can remember on a rally stage 30 years ago, a magnesium wheel caught alight and there was nothing that could be done other than letting the car burn out.

I hope we are not going too off topic now. We should focus on good things.

PX my ioniq for this one. Another Hyundai electric. Up to 300 mile range this time. And not black🤣🤣

EV is obviously working for you Ian (possibly because you still.have the bike for a petrol fix?😀)

In view of your spectacular figures with the Ioniq, looking forward to seeing what miles/kWh you can achieve with this one.

Is there yet another scandal in the future over fixing mileage and carbon neutral figures, having remembered why the VW ID3 advert rang my alarm bells.

This was my best in the ioniq on my commute home from work. Allways get marinally better miles on way home. May be a slight incline on way home not that I've ever noticed one.

The bikes sold too. Had far to many close calls with other idiots on the road (2 or 3 every commute) and thought sooner or later I was going to get wiped out through no fault of my own.

Sorry to hear that, but I certainly understand. Wish I'd sold my last one before encountering the idiot!

That's quite a target to beat on the miles/kWh!

It's all a nonsense. CO2 currently makes up 0.04% of the Earth's atmosphere.  (that means that 99.96% is made up of other stuff!). Yet we have mass hysteria about 'carbon' making the planet boil. I've never bought into any kind of hysteria.

Looking forward to buying my £20k heat pump (that won't actually heat my home), and my £40k battery car (which may well catch fire before it takes me to Donegal on holiday) 🤣

This reads more like a 'things I don't like' page.

I like cleaning off the brake dust from my alloys and seeing them shine again 😀

I watched that documentary last night  regarding solar panels, more smoke and mirrors except for the guy that was saving £50,000 a year but he did have a stately home. He only used 1% from the grid during winter. They threw in the comment that if all the golf courses in the UK were covered with solar panels it would generate 1/3 of of the countries needs for power, its ok for the cells but its the batteries needed to store it.

I'm so tempted to press all buttons at the same time. 🤣🤣🤣

His name wasn't Charles was it ?

To normally be spending £50,000 on electricity from the grid and now allegedly generates the same from a Solar panel installation it will have cost over half a million pounds. By the time the system has paid for itself the it will have come to the end of it's working life and the process will have to be repeated again.

I quite liked that 'portable' hydro generator featured, but I don't have a fast flowing river next to me 🤣 Yep, solar only useful if you can fill your roof space up with fire hazardous banks of Lithium Ion batteries LOL

Quite like the guys enthusiasm on heat pumps, saying that next generation will be much smaller almost fitting inside a briefcase, wonder how he'll defy laws of physics?

Blah blah.... I still like shiny alloys 😌

Like that folk donate blood. But not me today.
