I do like getting the all clear from the doctor further to a cancer scare.  Still got lots of problems in my life but at least now I've (hopefully) got a lot of time to deal with them.

  • I do like finally finishing a model kit I first started 5 and a half years ago.  It's a very special model that i was supposed to finish by the time the aircraft took her final flights across the UK

Well, well, what a strange world we live in. Does anyone remember back in the days of Nokia 6210's and other similar phones you could just unclip the battery and swap it out ?

I already reminisced about this feature in a previous post, have no idea why they did away with it apart from being the 'planned obsolescence'. of phone production as the market became saturated, so they needed a reason for folk to replace phones - a non replaceable battery must have seemed a good idea...

Not sure how the swapping of a battery pack on an EV will be possible without the use of any tools !!

I've never had a smartphone battery fail.  Charged from approx 20-100% roughly every 3 days.  After 4 years the capacity is still the same as when new.  How do I know?  I replaced the phone with an identical new one this year due the charging port failing and camera lens getting damaged.  The new one lasts exactly the same 3 days between charges.

My phone doesn't get used much during the day, but after 12 hours, it will have dropped to about 20%, I get the jitters easily (range anxiety) and always have it on charge well before that. My old Nokia 6310i could have survived virtually 2 x weeks before needed a drink of electric.

Sadly, I know I'll eventually have to replace it becasue the OS will simply fall out of favour with things like banking apps because they don't update them. The phone works 100% with every functionality I would ever want...

I don't understand how you can be draining a 3100 mAh battery in 12 hours. 🤔

Not comparable to an old Nokia that could only be used for voice and text (ok, and Snake lol!).

I probably spend 2-3 hours a day using mine on here, playing music and scrolling through Instagram plus lower consumption tasks like banking, calculator and calendar.  So that's about 9 hours of heavy use, plus 63 hours of idling between charges.  Also just checked and the battery bon mine is 100mAh smaller than yours as well.  It's a 2018 model so can't even suggest that it's the latest battery technology.

I can only think that it may have something to do with it 100% always connected to WiFi calling as I don't get a mobile signal at home. So it's always 'hunting' for a signal. You're going to tell me you're the same, right? 😂

I don't do calls (or any instant contact now - I'd be useless in a crisis!) so just switch the WiFi on when I need it.

I don't think WiFi uses much battery power though.

I'm still on old style PAYG...  1p per minute, 2p per text, 4p per MB of data.  Think it's been 4 years since I topped up!

(I just use online Messenger or e-mail over WiFi for free.)

You must be like me then, giggling your head off at folk who gladly hand over £75 to £100 /month for the latest phone LOL

Not at all.  If that's what they choose to spend their money on, that's fine with me.

I have no need or desire for an expensive phone.  I'd rather spend more on a nicer car (back when I could drive lol) and plenty of people told me that was a waste of money.

Some of you may be glad to know ive sold/px my Hyundai ioniq electric milk float . Been a lovely car to own and drive

Do you have to do that when the battery runs out ?  🤣

So whats it being replaced with ???

Yeah, the AA batteries were flat and needed replacing. Just found it easier to swap cars. Real Reason to sell was I got bored with the colour. Black doesn't look clean for more than a few hours after wash and polish. Worse than white which I've had too. Also some of the panels had been repainted by lease company before I bought it.  with the laquer bubbling up, How long till more paint issues.

If it was the battery that just needed charging, can I recommend the 'Maypole'? 🤣

Black is such a frustrating colour as it looks great when you've just finished cleaning it, much better than white or silver etc...but within half a day it's covered in dust or pollen or water marks.

Plus, after a few stone chips the front end looks poor...pretty sure I could make out some constellations in the front bumper on the Golf!

That's why I went for Moondust Silver again, looks naff but you hardly need to wash it and the added bonus is that it is anonyms. I've had cars with distinctive paint jobs before and got fed up with people telling that they spotted me somewhere where I did not necessarily want spotted.

Your secrets are safe with us, John. Who is she, btw?😀

Lol, I was on a different train of thought with that.

Ann Summers?  STI Clinic?  Vauxhall dealership? 😮

I would wear a Balaclava if I had to visit a Vauxhall dealership🤭

Balaclava to visit vauxhall dealer?? That nothing. I had to enter a Faraday cage at the local Hyundai dealer yesterday due to all the electric cars on display

PX my ioniq for this one. Another Hyundai electric. Up to 300 mile range this time. And not black🤣🤣

Oh the shame of it 🙁

To buy one you could have just made a mistake, but to do it again ?????

Looks an unusual colour like a pale electric blue 🤣

Enjoy your new car 👍
