I do like getting the all clear from the doctor further to a cancer scare.  Still got lots of problems in my life but at least now I've (hopefully) got a lot of time to deal with them.

  • I do like finally finishing a model kit I first started 5 and a half years ago.  It's a very special model that i was supposed to finish by the time the aircraft took her final flights across the UK

Yeah CB radio still going strong but not local stuff mostly people dx'ing, long distance stuff take a look on YouTube.

Got to admit I've not had the time to set my gear up over the last couple of years with ongoing work at home but I will be installing one in the galaxy at some point

Sad to say, they're all on my list too! Though the CB radio was in the days when it was illegal, and I had a stealth installation seized by local traffic police who took me down to their lovely station, and removed my driver seat to get at the receiver! Apparently I was 'discovered' as every time I used it, I blanked out their whole comms 🤣

We love Benidorm, though as a normal annual visitor, haven't been since the pandemic...

Illegal times were the best times, I've been using them since the late 70s, still got several cobra 148gtl dx radios plus many more. Nostalgia thing lol

They were cool, though I refuse to tell you my handle, TransAm, as it's just too embarrassing 😂

I used them back in the late 70's- early 80's. All illegal. Also had cobra 148gtl. First multiband one I had got confiscated at home while I was at work. Parents let the home office rep in to my bedroom and took it . Can't for the life remember the make of it but it had an annoying beep when you let go of mike.

Apparently I was wiping out the TV's in my local area from the 20ft aerial on top of 20ft pole in the garden with an high output amplifier.🤣🤣🤣

Supprising how far a 4 watt transmission gets to when there lots of UV radiation.  remember how the reception changed on the 11 year cycle of the sun. Skip propergation

It's actually in its top cycle now, lots of skip flowing across the pond

About 40 years ago now, I had a friend who was a radio ham, call sign "G4FRD" and due to freak atmospheric conditions he made contact with someone in Australia from his bedroom in North Shields. It was recorded in some ham radio log and he held the record for the longest armature radio call for many years.

As a 7 year old, I used a whole ball of string, 50 yards with 2 x empty baked bean cans to chat to my best mate, that Australia call rather puts that in the shade 🤣

I used to do that 👍 but it was more like 20 feet for me 🤣

Just been seeing if I could find any info on the radio call, seems it might have been in October 1988 (just seems like yesterday 🙁)

Lots of guys have been making it over Australia lately with the current conditions.

I'm actually a licensed radio amateur as well but always preferred CB radio tbh.

Bean tins and string are also very good 😂

See, and all we hear are bad things about global warming! 🤣

I've managed  too hear Australian  guy on 27mhz  back in 1979ish. He couldn't hear me though. Even with silly amounts of transmitting power I had.

I do like putting my 'mums' car, a 2001 Toyota Yaris through it's MOT and it passed with no advisories. I didn't even check basics like lights/horn!  It was badly presented too as I've been unable to wash it for 3 weeks due to bad weather and it was filthy!

I like that because the timing and aux belts were changed on my car yesterday that I can now with confidence drive my car like I stole it when the mood takes 😁

Can we expect to see it make an appearance on "Bangers and Cash" sometime soon ? 🤣

Driving

Got a NATO 2000 sitting in the garage that I've been meaning to setup for a while.

Also got a Patrolman scanner that I would like to have a play with 😀

Not much fun on the scanners these days with not being able to listen in on the police but defo get that NATO wired up whilst the winter skip is flowing
