A 900 MB update to Sync3 probably prepares your car for the map upgrade. What version number is your current Sync  and what version maps are you running?

Car is a Dec 2020 model.

3.4 build 19274

Not sure how to check map version.

Current Sync version is 20120. Install that and you should be prompted for the F10 maps if they are not installed already

Will do, cheers.

Having problems with my version 10 maps update.

Tried the download twice which all happens OK to my Windows PC

Unzip it to a USB with at least 32gb capacity, formatted to exfat as instructions say

All files go to root of the zip.

I already did the sync 3 update today no problem.

But now when I put usb into car after starting the engine get these messages.

1) Usb recognised

2) Software update

3) Indexing

4) sure you want to update, dont interupt..blah blah blah

5) Lic 001 ERR

Contact some ford support number!

Happened twice now with 2 downloads, and 2 different usb sticks.

Anyone any ideas please

Cheers

Steve

Hi Steve,

The correct license file for EU F10 maps is 1U5T-14G424-BK

Have a look inside your SyncMyRide folder and see if that file is present.
Then open up the autoinstall file in notepad and make sure it is listed for install.

Let is know how you get on

Cheers

Not at all. My nav works just fine. People who haven't the wit to even try though are not worth helping, don't you agree?

Witless.. haven’t been called that for a while 😋 I think updating my nav is not at the top of my ‘to do’ list , and up to now not needed to get a flash drive to accompany my iPad for anything else in my life , and I’ve managed just fine thanks

Bryn,

This maybe what you want mate, check which ipad model you have before ordering as they changed their plug size fairly recently

Thanks for that 👍 I’ll have to get around to it at some stage

Hi Colin,

Just checked in syncmyride and all i see are zipped tar.gz files, several but not the 1U5T-14G424-BK one

Also checked the autoinstall.lst no entry there of 1U5T-14G424-BK

Cheers

Steve

That will definitely be the problem then.

The complete list should be:

Maps

1U5T-14G421-BAH.TAR.GZ

1U5T-14G421-BBH.TAR.GZ

1U5T-14G421-BCH.TAR.GZ

1U5T-14G421-BDH.TAR.GZ

1U5T-14G421-BEH.TAR.GZ

1U5T-14G421-BFH.TAR.GZ

1U5T-14G421-BGH.TAR.GZ

1U5T-14G421-BHH.TAR.GZ

Navigation Voice

4U5T-14G422-BAF.TAR.GZ

4U5T-14G422-BBF.TAR.GZ

4U5T-14G422-BCF.TAR.GZ

4U5T-14G422-BDF.TAR.GZ

Map License

1U5T-14G424-BK.TAR.GZ

Here is a direct link to the map license file from Ford. You will have to rename it to remove the numbers between BK and TAR.

After that you could edit the autoinstall file to include the license file. Make it item 1 in the first section of the install.

Thanks Col,

I've been in touch with Ford and sent them all the info, will let you know what happens mate.

Thanks for all your helpful advice, it makes perfect sense.

Cheers,

Steve

No problem, hope they get it sorted out for you.

Updated to 20120 which went smoothly. Checked the map version and it says F8.

The Ford site said my maps were up to date. 🙄

.

I’m guessing that this update is only for MY2019.5 onwards?

My 2018 Fiesta Titanium has no new updates offered on the Ford Sync3 website. I currently have F9 maps and Sync 3.0 firmware build 20204

Hi Col, just noticed your link at foot of your post, so regarding adding the licence text.... you say make it first item, but what will happen to the line of text already in as item 1  "item1 = 1U5T-14G421-BCH"

do I simply add my licence line above that and have 2 item 1's?

Also each entry has an accompanying line called open, do I need to add this too to my file?

Thanks mate for your great help so far

Sorry, I wasn't very clear there.

You would add the item1 and open1 lines for the license file then bump the remaining item and open lines up by one.

It would end up looking like this:

Thats strange mate,

After looking at your text file, mine seems quite a bit different.

See below.

Yeah, that's quite different. From your screenshot not only is the license file missing but the first map package (1U5T-14G421-BAH) is too.

No wonder the install won't progress.

The F9 install list looked like this:

It might be worth waiting to see what Ford come back to you with or you could try downloading the maps again.

@Chainsawcharlie Here is the first map file (BAH) from Ford servers and this is how the correct autoinstall file should look:

Thanks Col, yes its very odd.

Never had problems with previous installers, and my background before retiring was software, so not sure where all this is going wrong.

I've downloaded about 5 times now even after resubmitting log files and even interegator but no joy.

Thanks bud 🙂

No worries, looks like it’s just going to be a case of waiting till Ford sort it out.
