I have a routine dental check-up on Tuesday at 1400...

You missed the classic dental appointment time by 30 minutes of 14.30, I got it once, didn't let the dentist forget it LOL (tooth-hurty 😂 - yes, I know it's childish...)

Londoners...

Well, your amazing leader, Sadiq Khan has just issued a press release advising his citizens to wear 'light cotton' for the forthcoming warm weather. Honestly guys, I don't know how you'd cope without such a caring mayor, I'm jealous 🤣🤣🤣

I keep mine open to allow a slight movement of air to ease condensation etc from cooking and the like. I used to work in double glazing from manufacture to management and if i had a pound for everytime i told someone with condensation or even mould to open a ***** window or keep the vents open. Mine are open 24/7/365 only shut the bedroom one a couple of times a year with the wind in the wrong direction as it whistles. It's why trickle vents are part of building regs and are sized by the room they go in.

I can see your not an insulate Britain warrior!! 😂😂

I've been trying to decide whether to keep vents open tomorrow or shut them.

Best to keep them open all the time as James said for a lot of reasons.

There will not be much air movement anyway unless it is windy but because they are at a high level where the air will be hotter they may draw relatively cooler air via natural leakage in the building fabric and keep a small amount of air moving.

I don't disagree with those points, but personally I do have to close them for about half the year due to the the draught.  It is windy here being sort of coastal, first floor and very flat.

Fortunately the rest of my flat is so poorly sealed that I've never had any mould issues.

Think I'll leave them open for now, but if I can feel hot air air coming in (as I can with the cold in winter) then will close them until the temp drops.

That's it , blame the wind on being coastal.😂😂

Do you not have a umbrella they work for keeping you out the sun just as much as the rain ?

I have a long trip to my dentist. Massachusetts. 😂😂😂😂😂

My boss has told us if we struggling in the heat later, we can go home. Yay. I said now, that was at 8.30am. he ignored my keenness to go home that day early.

Still, it's only 32c inside so a little way to go before I give up and go home.

There is a 'minimum' temperature working right rule, but, no maximum...

ahhhhh ok,

Yeah, no maximum. Looked into that in 2020 when it was hot and mask wearing. That was unbearable. Think it reached 37c or 38c inside then.

30 odd years ago I managed a place which had a small closed off area where a 'heat shrink' machine operated permanently. the heat generated by it was pretty rough in hot weather. I always had to hire out a portable A/C unit in summer, and provide a chilled water supply dispenser. that's why I know as the staff often complained to me that it was breaking some law - it wasn't!

Was going to post this in the 'Funnies' thread but thought it was relevant here as well 😀

Edit: The headline above this pic read.... When Your Granny From Wick Spent A Fortnight In The South Of England.

Well, I managed to stay at work until 3pm so only 1.5hrs shorter day than normal. 3pm was too hot to carry on. Hottest it's ever been inside our warehouse.

You cant think of that song without Kenny Evvrett popping into your head

Well, last night was disgustingly hot...

Kept the window open as long as I could, until about 11pm.  When a massive moth came in!  Too hot to do anything about it, but assumed it flew back out before I closed it.  How wrong I was there...half an hour after getting into bed it sounded like a damn apache helicopter flying around the room and smashing into things!   Too hot to get out of bed so just had to put up with it.  Trouble is, I can't find it this morning!

I have kinda got my head round being left in the EU even though Northern Ireland is part of the UK and we should have left with the rest of you guys. But, this weather is really p*ssing me off! Most are being drenched in the most beautiful summer sunshine, whilst today, as usual, it's been raining here and we're barely pushing 17c - it's just not fair!!

Come and visit Greece!!!

We have such a wonderful weather to live your summer with joy and relaxation at the same time...

I think Greece is a cheap destination in average.

This year we have 100% occupancy in the greek islands and hotels and the weather is very good, not so hot to be burned alive as other years in the past.

Have a nice summer time!!!

Unfortunately you'll have to get used to these temperatures because earth is warming up for good.

Fortunately this year we (Greece) do not have so high temperatures -up to 40°C- so we have been so lucky untill now...

Of course past years we used to live July and August with so high temperatures (42-44°C)... especially nights temperatures were not less than 37-38°C with high ammounts of humidity (up to 60%) in some areas of our country.

You are going to live a real hell this summer!!!

I am very anxious about that of course necause these are signs of global overheating!!!!
